Current Affairs The next Tory (strong and stable) leader is Boris Johnson

Said something like this during the recent local elections. Social media was awash with right wing folk claiming the elections were fraudulent, and postal votes were being exploited etc.

Wouldn’t surprise me at all, if the next general election ends up being a disputed one, leaving a large number of voters claiming election fraud and refusing to accept the result.

EDIT. It wasn’t during the locals. It was when the voter ID bill went through. Loads claiming that Labour having been cheating elections for years (bizarre considering they haven’t won one since 2005).

There were issues with Tower Hamlets but the electoral commission and the police stamped down hard on that and it must have been 10 years ago now.

Ellwood is a wannabe lightweight. May has some strengths but lacks that final killer instinct and blew the whole of the EU negotiations by relying on that cretinous and useless civil servant. The public are not in Westminster, nor in the media, the public understand that he’s done a good job…….

Johnson's killer instinct was basically agreeing to things like the Northern Ireland Protocol which was and still is an absolute disaster. He got brexit done by agreeing a laughable deal that they've been trying to change ever since.

I'm not a fan of her at all but at least May was intelligent enough to know that it would be a disaster.

He's going to 100% try declaring it to be fake news if he actually loses the next election

He'll go full on Trump, and his enablers will indulge him
It is what comes after that is the dangerous thing, the hardcore Trump devotees that have been left in his wake who still wont actually say Biden is president are essentially saying democracy but only on my terms. Then after that you have republicans having to suck up to these morons for thier career to move anywhere and you start to breed a very very dangerous belief system that wants to pretty much roll back any social progress in the last century. The johnson sycophants are just as stupid and just as dangerous, we may find the accents over the pond funnier but lets not kid ourselves that we as a nation are any less susceptible to a really vile cult of personality becoming a political stronghold.

Brexit alone is evidence that this is possible

I have never voted tory so I’m not an expert on such things, but can someone explain why Theresa May was voted out and this goblin wasn’t?

She lobbed a small but workable majority away and ended up needing a handful of DUP bigots to get anything done. And nothing got done cos a small number of Brexit loons stopped anything happening.

It seems an age ago, but the #1 issue was Brexit deals. Not Covid, parties, Ukraine, PPF.

80+ majority?
But the fact that there Was a vote means it won't be too long until another, or another reason to move him out is found.

I told @peteblue, he would never last - he has a history of being a buffoon - I never vote Tory never have - The B word has been mentioned - Labour state they will never return to the EU .......not even a single market Keir Starmer on LBC yesterday -

IMO who ever is in - they always make a mess of things - not voting any more .....

It's a pity you didn't start that stance in 2016 Joe. We might not have ended up in this mess.

Brexit is still a major issue. In fact, I doubt there will be a time in the next 100 or so years where it wont be.
