But doesn't make it right, right ?
Neither does the other side of that!

Part of the problem these days is the assumption of right and wrong on opinions. Until something like that can be proven without a doubt to be right or wrong whichever way you go, it's still just opinions. That one is just shared with the majority of society.

It'll be interesting if his fine was for one of those dates. If it was, he's proverbially hung himself; if it wasn't, he'll say he was directly answering that enquiry.

They're inept, untrustworthy weasels - the lot of them - and they'll do whatever they can to wriggle out of this.

….apparently his fine was for ‘briefly attending’ Johnson’s birthday party. Not sure what date that was.

When Sue Gray finds Johnson didn't do anything illegal they'll run with that as the end if the matter.

….I suspect the Gray report will be quite damning, especially now fines support her findings.

Johnson will have suspected this outcome for a long time, he’ll be well prepared for it & have his excuses well researched & rehearsed.

No they'll try and obfuscate for a bit longer. Interesting take, a fine is only a fine if in your opinion its a fine.

"Well officer in my opinion it's not an offence to do 100mph in a 60 zone"

To be fair, there's a lot of valid questions regarding fixed penalty notices. But, if Johnson and Sunak question the view, they can happily decide to face a JP.

Although they won't, so they're essentially agreeing with the Met's perspective by taking the fine and hence they've admitted guilt.

The same principle applies with with speeding - take the NIP or go up in front of the bench if you want to challenge it.

Ladies and gentlemen, the political class.

Getting a ticket is a matter of opinion, invading somewhere else isn’t a war.

The extension to that is they'll have to admit they lied to parliament then.

What ever happened to "Ignorance is no defence?"

…..many offences carry a burden of guilty knowledge but in this case it’s hard to plead ignorance if you’ve broken the rules you set. For months, Johnson had daily conferences instructing us on what to do.

i think the Sue Gray report could be key. We might also see some of his inner circle breaking ranks.
