Ukraine is the key one here. That country might be about to fight for its very existence, and we may be facing a colossal geopolitical shift. We cannot in these circumstances be led by a government that has such a colossal record for mendacity.

Bottom line here is that governments have to follow laws in order to retain the moral authority to punish those who don’t.

When the PM doesn’t follow laws that he himself set, there’s zero authority to govern.

I agree. Think the U.K. used to have fairly high standards of accountability, certainly when compared with other countries. Unfortunately, we have followed the American model of denial and obfuscation.
If any Tory continues to back him now they’re short sighted numpties who should realise this may mean that political accountability will be harder to apply when it’s someone that they don’t like in power.
