Current Affairs The next Tory (strong and stable) leader is Boris Johnson

So annoying that parliament is in recess so no PMQs tomorrow. I guess he’d just do his normal thing anyway but would be fun to see him squirm. No doubt he’ll weasel his way out of taking accountability as usual

Bet they don't resign. They are utterly shameless.

Of course they won't. Well, Johnson definitely not. He'll use the war in Ukraine as his excuse, will bleat on about the world being in crisis and the last thing the country and NATO needs is a new UK Prime Minister. He really is that scum of the Earth.

Sunak may do, only because it means he can move back to the US and get out of paying his tax. His chance of being the next Tory leader has gone up in smoke the last week anyway probably.

Is there anything the speaker can do to force the Tories hand?
Blatently lied to parliament. Surely there must be a mechanism for the speaker to bar all those that mislead. Therefore making positions untenable.

Johnson likes using mass deaths to squirm out of things doesn't he

It's the lies to parliament that are the biggest thing

It'll be interesting if his fine was for one of those dates. If it was, he's proverbially hung himself; if it wasn't, he'll say he was directly answering that enquiry.

They're inept, untrustworthy weasels - the lot of them - and they'll do whatever they can to wriggle out of this.

….I doubt the standards and values of the top offices in Government have ever been so low. If the status quo remains the same & he stays in power, we now have a very low benchmark for the future.
I agree. Think the U.K. used to have fairly high standards of accountability, certainly when compared with other countries. Unfortunately, we have followed the American model of denial and obfuscation.
If any Tory continues to back him now they’re short sighted numpties who should realise this may mean that political accountability will be harder to apply when it’s someone that they don’t like in power.
It’s an embarrassing farce

…I doubt anything will happen unless they start turning on him. I suspect Sunat has already decided he’s had enough. The Sue Gray report might also make others turn on him.

Liz Truss will be getting very giddy.
