Well, that could easily be blown out of the water.
His flat is his residence. The downstairs his workplace.
Was having people over to your home to socialise, legal at the time?
Could anybody else have a work Xmas party at work?
Etc, etc blah blah.
Pretty sure he could work from homes where possible, then come downstairs and work in the offices when needed. All without the champers, cake, garlands, quizzes, and whatnot.
I reckon a lot of people managed not to have champers lying around the workplace.
