These make John Major’s government look almost morally upstanding and left leaning.

TBF given what went before and since I think there is a good argument for saying that Major’s government was actually one of the most morally upstanding of the past fifty years (note: this is not a high standard).

The spivs (Aitken, Hamilton etc) all came in under Thatcher and even the sex scandals weren’t that crazy. We didn’t even know he was knocking off Edwina until years later, either.

If they’d not brought in uni fees, started the NHS internal market and botched rail privatisation like they did one could even say they were approaching competent.

They aren't even doing the same job. One is a statesman and the other is an absolute twonk
