Current Affairs The next Tory (strong and stable) leader is Boris Johnson

So when that Labour MP was accused of planning to throw acid in another’s face, you think it should be Starmer and not she who should resign…oh and shes still an MP……
She’s not a Labour MP though, she was hoofed out and now stands as an independent. It’s wrong though, she should be in jail and nowhere near parliament.

If the Tories lose you will claim that Starmer will win the GE. If the Tories win, with a usually reduced by-election majority, you will claim that Starmer will win the GE. If the Tories win with a similar majority you will accuse them all of being idiots or something. Meanwhile everyone else is just getting on with their lives, getting ready for Christmas if we are allowed one and watching the numbers of booster jabs rising……
By elections are often protest votes or focused on local issues, doesn't always mean too much in the bigger picture. I.e. doesn't necessarily translate into a prediction of general election outcomes.

That said, this does seem to be fuelled by the Johnson leadership and administration. Disquiet in the shires may well be appeased by a leadership change. You're right, it's no prediction of a Starmer GE win.

The leadership change will happen just so that a line can be drawn between all of this nonsense and the turmoil of the last few years. It’s a way to blame an administration rather than the party itself.

It’s why the media are turning against Johnson now. They don’t want a left leaning government so they need a new horse to back next election.

One that’s pro business but doesn’t have the baggage of brexit or covid (or the many many lies).

They’ll find a new idol, the tories will stroll the next GE and it’ll be business as usual.

I mean, I've 'liked' the post, but I don't like the post! You're right though, that's probably how it'll play out.

The media have sat on this for about a year. If they’d have released it all too early the next person will have taken too much mud slinging.

The timing is impeccable. I’m guessing it’ll be ‘no more lockdowns’ ‘let’s move on together’ ‘revitalised country United’ ‘Starmer just sat and let this happen’ stuff and they’ll be good to go.

It’s textbook really.

That is quality. Maybe there should be an investigation into why there is no police investigation.
If I was being prosecuted for anything during lockdown, I would just be saying, well what about the Tory nonsense? Can't discriminate.
Not enough evidence that there wasn’t a police investigation for there to be an investigation into the police investigation.
