Current Affairs The next Tory (strong and stable) leader is Boris Johnson

Whataboutery is hardly uncalled for in this context.

If Blair appoints 374 peers in just over ten years, Cameron appoints 240 or so in six, and Johnson appoints 36, this means that both parties are appointing members at about the same rate.

Both sides sell peerages to their allies when they have power. Labour is just a little more insistent on form, and that the peerage be purchased with time spent on causes the party favors rather than mere filthy lucre. It's the whole point of a peerage system - it creates something of value the crown or government can use to bribe people into doing things. All recognition systems work like this, to a greater or lesser degree, if we're being honest with ourselves.
Here is some more whataboutery and enjoy this context...

The irony here is that the SNP can have ethics on the issue since they'll never attain 10 Downing Street. When both rivals start doing the same corrupt thing after being in power for a while, it's time to admit that the system they're abusing is broken. That doesn't absolve the people abusing that system from being corrupt scumbags - it just shows that both sides are full of that sort.

This is why we shouldn't engage in the hero worship of popular politicians while demonizing their enemies. It leads to eventual disappointment and feelings of betrayal. If we want to be represented by people that are not corrupt scumbags, we might want to consider revising how we pick our representatives.

This Cnut thinks he is untouchable. He probably is in this mess of a country with the absolute weapons he has backing him.

Even the people who know what a class A Cnut he is just turn a blind eye.

Ideal Christmas present for De Piffle.

Quite possibly the worst PM in history - certainly relatively modern history. Including Chamberlain, Eden and Brown.
Would be inclined to have Cameron above him to be honest. He created this mess then hid in his shed.
History will not be kind to this lot. PMs always care very much about their legacy and it gives me a great deal of pleasure that Cameron knows exactly what his defining legacy is.

A little piggy that made off on his trotters to allow his old Bullingdon boy mate billy bunter into the running!

"I show them what I do, I show them how the cards are marked, I tell them what I am … and they nudge one another and grin and each one of them thinks himself no end of a fine fellow to be doing business with me."

- Reacher Gilt from Terry Pratchett's Going Postal.

When I think of Boris Johnson, I think of that quote, everytime. Because he's so transparently obvious about what he is - a liar, morally bereft, a contemptuous human who knows he's better than everyone else, a complete egotist who'd sell his own mother to advance himself one more millimetre in life, who thinks rules are there to be made and broken by him and followed by others...

... and yet idiots love him for it. Colleagues, voters, the lot, all fall in line.

It's disgusting that he's PM, and the blame for it lies with absolutely everyone.
