Johnson's humbug remark is pure Churchill.
Of course, Churchill is one of his heroes. He wrote a book about him.
Boris mate - you ain't no Churchill.

I stated that early am yesterday the school kids let back in the playground - It was conference season - why did the Attorney General with advice to the PM for the he Queen just say after the party conference season parliment will be prorogued for a Queens speech for 4 days which was the time lost .......out of the five weeks this was the time lost the party conference season was taking all the time up bar the four days needed for a Queen's speech....
If you look at the judgment the government offered no defence just the principle, and history of proroguing parliment - that last night was a disgrace, and the speaker just sat there letting clapping happen etc etc
If the way they behaved in some cases years ago Dennis Skinner used to be sent out - the speaker is far from impartial..... lost the plot last night,,,,,,
Now the other parties who have had their party conferences are trying to stop the government having theirs - as I stated we pay for this = School kids fighting in the playground.....

I can't stand Bercow, he's just one of those people who makes it all about him.

It's quite the opposite. OK so he's not 100% impartial but he always tries to keep everything within process and on topic. The only reason it seems like he's more high profile than previous speakers is because of the constant bickering between the parties and even within the parties. He has to step in to keep "OarDerrrr" a lot more than he should do. Bercow was exactly the same before the referendum but very, very few people had heard of him because he just go on with his job and wasn't in the news as often.

I used to actually like him, but he just comes across as a bit of a tit now.

I think that's possibly more to do with the situations he has to deal with. It's a no win scenario at the moment. He obviously has a view on every topic discussed, even if he's not technically allowed to give one and he doesn't have a vote on anything but he still likes to get his views across with little comments here and there and that's not going to please everyone. I guess it depends if you agree with his views or not.

To be honest, his lack of impartiality is mostly because he's constantly favouring the power of parliament, which is perfectly fine. If he was biased in terms of party politics, that'd be a different issue, but it just so happens that we've had the Tories as the executive for a very long time, so Bercow is opposed to the Tories in sticking up for parliament against the executive. If Labour had been in power, it's very easy to envisage he would have been the same way towards them.

We just need a speaker who can control outbursts, knows the rules and always behaves and acts impartially. Bercow seems to think it’s all about him when really he should almost be invisible.....
