Current Affairs The next Tory (strong and stable) leader is Boris Johnson

As I said above, the British ruling class are nothing but resilient and flexible. The idea they'd allow themselves to be harmed covering for Johnson or his weird aspie mate Cummins is laughable. The rot stops at Johnson and he will be thrown to the wolves. There's more chance he ends up in jail than the Queen cops any blame for this.

The Queen will get away with it because she can simply state she was lied to and agreed the proroguing based on false information

She's not going anywhere

The "impartial" BBC at it again I see. Firstly it goes without saying if the Prorugation is illegal it means the process was flawed. Secondly, there would be no need to make a statement on that either way, and in doing so the original Scottish verdict still stands, that he lied.

They really don't want to push Neils line. It will mean the Queen has to carry some of the can for this mess and secondly it will just be clarified by the Judge(s) he lied.

Andrew Neil =/= the BBC. He's an external contractor. Wrong to link them

Be stunned to see Tories and the DUP defending this one. Unanimous!

I don’t think they will. A ruling has been given so the prorogation didn’t happen. That doesn’t mean however that prorogation itself is unlawful, just that it was unlawfully applied for, so there is nothing to stop the government just doing it again, but ensuring that it’s lawful this time.....I think......

If you unlawfully apply for a passport then the passport is unlawfully held. It's the same thing. The court didn't rule on whether he lied but that the prorougagtion was unlawful and therefore null and void.

It doesn't mean a government can't prorouge parliament but that this government unlawfully prorouged parliament.

It could be argued he lied but that's probably for another day.

....if Johnson is forced to sack Dominic Cummings, he could be in dangerous waters if Cummings decides to ‘tell all’.

I doubt it. First it may not happen and secondly Cummings would be committing professional suicide by opening his mouth......

...I was just thinking about how much he’d make from a book. He’s been there with Johnson, he’ll have some mud to sling.

The whole Cabinet will be tainted by this. All of the wannabe leaders are culpable. Rory Stewart, come on down.

What I find interesting, is that in coming to their decision, the Law Lords have presumed to KNOW what was in the mind of the PM in taking the action that he did, and have declared what he did was unlawful on that basis.

Still don't think the 'Judiciary' should interfere with the 'Parliamentary', as there are no stated hard-and-fast rules about prorogation. To quote a point made in 1611, well...
