Moyes football was extremely boring, pragmatic, until this last couple of years.

He got turfed out of West Ham for the same thing despite winning them a trophy and keeping them a competitive top 8 side.

Martinez didn't "luck out" he's always had an eye for attacking talent even at Wigan. His football eventually turned boring in the same way but more attractive to the eye. We're currently at a time where Pep-like football is "the right way" even though it's equally as boring.

His first season was the best football we've played for almost 2 decades though.

And the Moyes type striker is one that runs the channels. Antonio said the same thing on a podcast about Scamacha not doing it and being dropped and soon sold after.

Sarri is alright. Very experienced coach who's built some nice teams to watch, but his age does concern me a bit.

Rather we went with a fresher face, if I'm being honest. Someone who backs themselves to do a job, will get heavily involved in the coaching & tactical side of things, and develop at a big club like ours. Like a Hurzeler at Brighton.

I've already stated that Ancelotti Jr would be my pick personally.

Agree with you about Niasse but not on the football under Martinez. The first season when he tweaked Moyes team was some of the best football I've seen at Goodison since the 80s.

Sadly he hasn't got a scooby how to set a team up to defend

Fair enough, but he did misuse Haller trying to play him as a target man, one quick google and he could have seen the player was more suited too a three. We can just swap Haller for Danny Ings (who he did buy) who has hardly done anything there and was another poor buy. The two strikers you mention are just low grade target men, they suit his style of play and it relates to your other point in that I agree, you don't see many target men anymore mainly because they are bloody easy to play against that's why forwards now are more of a Watkins type where they can do a bit of everything. In terms of a team that's far more beneficial than a player who needs it handed to them on a plate all the time like DCL. Exceptions like Haaland who are just footballing freaks come along every once in a while though.

For West Ham he played more of the right, he's very much not a target man, he created as much as he scored, hugely impactful player, like calling Berbatov a target man.

We scored an extra 6 goals compared to the season before despite adding Lukaku. We passed it around at the back more that’s for sure but I don’t remember us handing out too many hidings. We also scored a crazy number of free kicks that year for some reason.

No idea why you mention Berbatov he is in a totally different league to Arnautovic. You clearly rate him whereas I don't it's not a big deal.

Was someone like Steve Pienaar creative, he didn't get many goals and assists.

So double digits in goal scoring and half again in assists, playing off the right.

I mention it as stylistically they are more similar then calling him a target man or comparing him to Michael Antonio.

Dude has a CL league winners medal and just won the Scudetto at 35.

Hes a completely different player then the one you are describing as a low grade target man, completely.

Moyes is not a backwards step. Were circling the drain of relegation and have been for 3 years now. A manager thats proved he can take teams battling relegation and turn them into a European cup wining side is not a backwards step.

I agree we should be throwing everything at tuchel hes a massive name and a elite manager who would do fantastic at this club.

Sarri on the other hand is suicide for me. His style of play is extremely specialised and even at a top club like Chelsea with all of their resources and quality players he still struggled in the league and the majority of our midfield cant pass two yard without giving away possession. Also he sticks around at a club for about 2 seasons maximum if youre lucky, hes not what we need imo.

I don’t want the team to be developed to follow the Moyes blueprint.
I would prefer to develop in a more attacking direction , with an emphasis on seeking victory.
A more attacking and proactive style than Moyes employs.

Whats the moyes blueprint? Attacking fullbacks and multiple players that score goals in the team, whipping in crosses and big striker heading them in, from a solid defensive base?

Look at the team moyes left us as well as having a £26m positive net spend over the previous 4 seasons and not being able to spend for 2 seasons straight during that time period. We also finished 6th that season with +15 GD.

Would love to see what any of your hipster flavour of the month managers blueprint would be in those situations.
