Its not different now, you often see women hitting or slapping men and its seen as a laugh or "he deserved it" attitude

Rewatching the show recently, I still love it and it’s brilliantly written and acted. In some cases, whilst Basil has the temperament of a Evertonian about to again witness a Barry for Beto substitution, he was right about some things.

The overly demanding Mr Hutchinson

The snotty kid moaning about the chips

Sybil gossiping on the phone all day whilst he and Polly do a lot of work

The Major being a crackpot

Mrs Richard’s being an insufferable arse

I look at the BBC comedy stuff now and it’s embarrassing how big the gulf is in quality imo.

Couldn't agree more, its been crap since the 90's, I been watching Gimme Gimme Gimme tonight, that was a loff!, think Early Doors was the last decent BBC comedy
