The New(ly) Dead Thread

Colin Addison, player-manager of Hereford United in 1972, and manager of Derby County ( 1979 - 1982 )

He was a great Assistant Manager to Ron Atkinson at The Baggies in the late 70's and also Assistant again for us in 87/88 and should have got the Managers job when Brian Talbot was sacked but instead Bobby Gould became Manager and what a mistake that was.

Irish Blues will know of Sr Stanislaus Kennedy who passed this morning.

She was a fearless advocate for homeless and less fortunate in society. She was afraid of no one in authority and said out what she felt about inequality.

Politicians, church hierarchy, the great and powerful all felt her ire when she saw people in need while society seemed wealthy.

The Combat Poverty Agency, Focus Ireland for the homeless and the Immigration Council were all nurtured by her.

May she RIP. Somewhat apt that she died on the feast and anniversary of St Martin de Porres, who suffered discrimination in 17th century Peru, as he was of mixed race, yet he devoted his life to caring for the poor and the sick.

I see that Charles Haughey, Minister for Social Welfare before becoming Taoiseach described her as the most intransigent woman he ever met.

He hadn't yet met Thatcher when he said that. 😄
