Everton are (deservedly) underdogs for the clash. I am not at all optimistic. This prevailing negative sentiment is the only thing in our favour.

(PS I am a big fan of Lewis Carroll)

It's the ref...

If Stevie Me works his magic we'll be getting pulled up for everything. We need a ballsy game by the ref, I like Dowd most out of all the refs, but that's not saying much, i distinctively remember everyone saying that about ****tenburg before his game, i'm just glad it's not Webb, then the game becomes about him, not the footie.

After years of negative tactics by Moyes i'm gonna go with Bobbys' tactics.

Negative tactics haven't really been the issue at Goodison, if anything we've been too open against them.

I'm guessing luck and the referee have been mentioned a lot? Those two for me.

As long as Dowd doesn't get conned or cowed by those bastards, we have more than a decent chance to win this. But I can't shake the image of Stevie Me leading a haranguing pack after Suarez trips over his own shoelaces and rolls 17 times in agony.

mental preperation. same with davey's tactics, too often did he have the team going out there looking timid before the game even began. Lost those matches before we even played.

I believe it is mental attitude. In the past, Everton always went for the win (no matter our league position). LP used to be scared then. Recently it seems to be the other way round. Here's a quote from OS from Peter Beardsley, who played for both sides, re Howard Kendall's attitude:-
“When I was at Everton with him, he was sensational. Every game he made you feel relaxed and never worried about the opposition – that’s where Howard was clever. He never feared the opposition and never thought we were going to get beat.”

I think it often comes down to the ref, because they give a doggy goal to one team (Liverpool) which winds up the other team (us), then there are a rash of fouls and one team ends up down to 10 men (us) and the game is then ruined.

The; they are the rs factor and will find a way to do us over be it covered by the poll or not

Oh and having sold their shankly red (r)souls to the devil

rs; you always get what it says on the tin.

I think Martinez will have studied them and will have a plan. Whether the team can implement the plan for long enough
we'll have to see.
Will Lukaku have one of his better days? If he does, we win.
I see Kev scored for Belgium yesterday. Maybe that will get him back in the mood.

I think Martinez will send them out with a far more positive outlook than Moyes ever did in this fixture, and that's a big plus.
