The missing ingredients

Aye, need to get some of those extra solid cucumbers that pop up in those cheap sandwiches that you get from garages.

Conviction and resolve. At key moments we have neither. In the last third what we try and do with the final pass carries no conviction. Instead we take the easy option or make a careless pass, not helped by an absence of options in goalscoring areas. At the back we have good solid defenders who deal with 99% of what comes their way, but at the moments when the men get sorted from the boys they don't have the firm resolve to see things out. Yesterday was a classic example where at least 3 defenders copped out. Distin was not strong enough, mentally or physically, to block Terry's run into the 6 yd box; Jagielka actually could have attacked the ball and put it behind for a corner but instead he actually withdraws his body from the line of the ball and let's it go unchallenged across the face of the goal; and then of course Howard craps himself at the sight of Terry rushing in at him and pushes the ball into his own net! Terry showed all the conviction you see in real winners; we showed the lack of resolve that will forever stop us winning anything.

You're right, I couldn't agree more. We've shown in so many games this season, particularly against the good sides that we are equal to them as a team. The media love to rave about players like Giroud and Hazard etc but at the end of the day what did those players do in the games against us? Nothing, because we didn't allow them to. Our players can match these teams every time when we're full strength.

But we fall down every single time because we don't have the winning mentality or belief that we can win these games. There are so many players in our team that refuse to shoot or pass on the responsibility to someone else when they get around the box. And i've also noticed that we never score from corners, no matter how easy the chance. Players like Distin and Jagielka don't believe they can score when we get an attacking corner so think it's just ok to get their head on the ball. Really is frustrating.

Losing Lukaku hasn't helped us either because he's one of the only players who is not afraid to have a go as he believes he can score. It's something that Martinez needs to address right now if we are to get anything from this season - Cup win or a top 6 finish.

A new keeper, I love Tim but he too prone to errors.

A technical midfielder able to take the mantel from and teach Ross.

A couple of strikers at least 2. Come the end of the season we will only have Kone, Lukaku returns to Chelsea I'm sure Velios is leaving on a free

My word, his kicking against Chelsea was a new low. I tense up every time the ball goes near his feet these days.

We struggle to open teams up (notably top sides away from home). Maybe Ross or Aiden will develop into this player next year but we could do with adding some quality.

We also need to desperately improve our forward line. Regardless of keeping Lukaku, we need to add a quality striker. Kone might add something next year and Naismith can be useful off the bench but I want two quality strikers in front of both of them in the pecking order. I want or domination in terms of possession to be reflected in the scoreline.

Money, and until we go out and spend a lot of it we're always going to lag behind the big boys. It's a sad reality.

We're lacking goals. Our starting 11 yesterday didn't have enough goals or assists in it. We need to go with 3 up front and be a bit more direct IMO. Lukaku in the middle, mirallas left and one of deulofeu or mcgeady on the right. All players with pace who want to run at defenders.

Lukaku never runs at defenders mate. I wouldn't start him vs WHU. Hes only just come back from injury. Bring him on

Honestly think we would have won yesterday with Lukaku in the team. We're a good side and we were better than the league leaders yesterday as we were against the league leaders when we played Arsenal.

We just had no one up top as an out and out striker at all yesterday.
