The Martinez Effect

I'm not gonna be blinkered, I felt like this after Moyes's first couple of seasons. We finished 16th in those first few years too, so be prepared for an iffy here, hopefully not this season, but I can see it being a bit more of a struggle. I hope we as fans give him patience and support.
Nah they'll turn on him as soon as were stuck mid table!

Defo. Be worse this time though, 'cause we've spent all this money on Lukaku and signed Barkley so we should be masters of the universe.

We've got a tricky set of opening fixtures.

True but we have to play them some time, they could also be thinking they do not want to play us.

He's a breath of fresh air. makes everybody feel loved. Hope he sticks around for many years and takes us back where we belong.

From some of his signings he's certainly planning long term. Building a team that can stay together for many years.

Good times ahead under wor Bobby and it's a great feeling of optimism.

That was with a makeshift defence and no striker wasn't it?. Think people saw an exception.

Our fans can be that bad
I don't think we'd have been so forgiving of Moyes, even with players out injured.

Everyone seems to be right behind Martinez, so I doubt there'll be anyone turning on him early in the season.

Its the brand of football - everyone thought DM was the Moyseh - I did not -IMO another Gordon Lee - in fact Gordon's football was better entertainment - DM gave us stability , and three good seasons in his reign - he signed some good players, but at time too much HOOF BALL! - Defending 1-0 leads!
RM plays the game on the deck, and if you seen the Ball Harvey , and Kendall team pure school of science football - my 67 year old brother has now returned to Goodison to watch them, as he sussed DM out in six games that hew went to, and vowed to stay away!
He has seen them play since the age of 5 - so it was his opinion! He and I are made up RM has been given the job, and long may he stay! My brother has his games picked out this season - RM plays entertaining football

Martinez is attracting the type of player we love at Everton, young, talented, eager to learn and improve, and most of all, not chasing the big bucks straight away knowing they'll do well in the future. Meanwhile, the 'Money' clubs will keep spunking over the odds for players who are splashed all over the media like a dirty whore. Personally, I'm very happy with how Martinez is building things, it's refreshing and, dare I say it, reminiscent of Kendall in the time leading up to our glorious period of the eighties. Young talent surrounded by experience. Let's enjoy it.

I think the difference with that though mate is that Moyes was far more cautious then Martinez. We all accept that the way we play means every now and again we will get a drumming. Where as with Moyes if your starting off cautious and still get a drumming then that's a bit different, in my eyes anyway
