A coherent socialist party would have no truck whatsoever with parties that represent the continuation of neo-liberalism...the only imaginable circumstance would be if democracy was facing an existential threat from fascism.

Perhaps not, but if Umunna thinks the way to tackle inequality is to have PWC pay some of his office costs and to sit down with the boss of HSBC then he may find that not a great deal of progress occurs.

Corbyn wanted to talk to an organisation devoted to the destruction of the West. Umunna has joined a think tank with a mission statement of improving lives within an existing system. Why is one utterly crazy, but one to be applauded?

Because Corbyn wasn’t suggesting taking advice from ISIS about how to fix the problem of Wahabbi terrorism?
As an aside, I’d bet a small amount of cash that someone in our Government(s) has been talking to ISIS, even if they tell themselves it is the moderate elements.

Again, I don’t quite get the problem. If people can put aside ideological issues and work to a common solution on problems, what exactly has been lost?

He said that the Government should keep a channel open to ISIS because we are at war with them (and for the same reasons we’ve kept channels open with whoever we’ve been at war with) not to sit down with them and discuss with them the problems they’ve caused.
The problem with sitting down with the likes of HSBC is that they are in a big way a part of the problem, you aren’t ever going to get honest impartial advice that benefits everyone.
That is why repeated attempts to involve the likes of them in dealing with inequality or other social issues have not exactly worked.
I see a lot of anger at how close politicians have become with big business.

The right of the Labour Party view Corbyn/Mcdonnel economic policies (far to the right of said Swedish countries) as too extreme to be electable mate. Some might say they even view them as communism.
I'd be delighted with the Nordic model but they will do everything they can to stop it.
