The problem is farmland is now at a all time high as rich Gentleman Or big businesses have pushed the farmland ⁹ land price sky high hence farmers who Inherited loads of workable land to put food in the supermarkets at cost price are now on paper multi millionaires just on the acreage value, not money in their bank accounts- if the nurse chooses to live in an expensive house then will she pay inheritance tax or put any savings into trust funds for any children via a solicitor like Staemer is advocating the farmers should do......solicitors cost money ....

Even for you, that`s an incredibly sweeping statement.

A lot of hill farmers earn less than the yearly average wage, but their combined assets - land, property, machinery, stock etc could well tip them over the new proposals. Plus a lot things like farm machinery is either leased or purchased via loans, due to it being so eye wateringly expensive.

These farms really are the ones that get passed on from father to son / daughter and will potentially be hot the hardest.

Not all farms are owned by Guy Richie and the like.

Loads of gentleman farmers who lease them to working farmers on low wages & relying on temporary workers rich people many former MPs latched onto this in the 1980s when agricultural land was cheap - if you have watched Clarksons farm his tennant farmer packed in, Clarkson decide4 to farm it himself being in semi retirement- Kaleb was just a contractor for that farm .... without him Clarkson was clueless hence the popular tv series....

Its very amusing that so many of those on the right shouting loudest in support of farmers are the same people who shouted loudest in support of Brexit that screwed farmers.
