No doubt the "snides" in the Labour party harmed their chances, but it must be remembered that Labour faced the worst run election campaign in history by May and her crew, and were still over 50 seats behind the Tories. If the Conservatives had managed an averagely decent campaign Labour would have been trounced. The Tories had a huge lead in the opinion polls before the campaign started, remember, but May's total lack of competence and charisma were cruelly exposed by the time it came for people to vote.
There weren't very many votes in it, a few thousand votes in the right places and then it would've been a different story.

It did have a fair bit do do with May's calamitous campaign though, fair to say.

Snides oughtn't be in inverted commas. Snides are underhand, devious people.

People like Luke Akehurst are bad snides. His loyalty to Netanyahu's Israel clearly trumps his loyalty to the Labour Party.

"A few thousand votes in the right places" means nothing, you could say that about almost every election. There were over three quarters of a million votes in it in reality.

Not really that many in the grand scheme of things.

Easy to imagine a different result if Labour hadn't behaved like a circular firing squad prior to it.

I'm not a dyed in the wool Corbynite by any means, there was loads of stuff he was crap at, and his mistakes are clear.

I firmly believe that Labour could've been the largest party in 2017 if not commanding a majority if certain elements hadn't deliberately sabotaged it.

And the saboteurs are back in charge now. They were quite happy for the Tories to get in just as long as Corbyn didn’t.

Both played significant roles.

He played a role certainly - but Major's was the far greater. Given the state his government was in at the time, it is remarkable that he was able to to push forward on improving relations with Dublin and getting the parties and the IRA on board with faith in the overall process. He kept at it despite loads of opportunities to call the thing to a halt because of bombings and killings, too.

Most impressively it was done knowing there would probably be no electoral reward coming his way either.
