That welcoming by Starmer of a right wing Tory today underlines in spades why a new alternative social democratic party is now a necessity in the country's political life.

The Red Tories are merely a receptacle now for free market, anti-immigrant, pro-austerity careerists.

When that alternative is formed...soon I hope...it will be inundated with hundreds of thousands of social democrats making it immediately one of the biggest in the country in terms of membership.

Bring it on.

There's nothing between the Tory centre ground and Starmer's Tories.

The only Tories Starmer would deviate from are the swivel-eyed Truss types who read Ayn Rand and would sell their own family for a few quid as an act of rationality.

His advisors will be telling him the core Labour voters are all banked as they’ll vote for anyone to get the Tories out and he needs to appeal to the utter cranks irrespective of looking like a flip flop doofus with zero principles.

I mean, they’re probably right but it’s short term thinking.

Was listening to radio 4 driving home. One analysis is that it's all about driving home a narrative the Tories are falling apart. She's stepping down as an MP before the election and it was timed to blindside Sunak at PMQs. Elphicke is a self-serving turd presumably trying to make some point or other.

We're now being spun the line here politics are 'nuanced'.

It seems she stood by her husband Charlie Elphicke after he'd sexually assaulted two women - and she blamed the women for their own assaults.

Surely the ex-DPP must have considered all this before he accepted the horror into his own party?

This is what's in store for those handing the Red Tories their support.
