Is that due to inner city wards declaring first? Wards in the outer ring of London will be massively anti-Khan.

Maybe, but we’ve just had Westminster / Hammersmith / Chelsea / Fulham report, which Bailey won in 2021 and which Khan has won now.

I think if that happens - pretty much meagre improvement - they'll react to Labour the way they reacted to Brown's Government and say there's no vision there. People forget just how unimpressed the electorate were with Brown and then Miliband. They didn't inspire because they had no programme to rejuvenate the country.

The Tories do bold much better than Labour, that's why they win elections more often than not.
Well, after 14 years of degradation, if meagre improvement for 5 years is on offer, I’ll take it.

Khan will win handily it looks like now. I bet the LP leadership won't be arsed if he wins or not.

With the Tories on their knees this was the chance to put radical left policies forward. 14 years of this lot in charge and the electorate would go for any opposition party.

Unfortunately we have the Tory second XI to ride to the rescue for the rich and powerful, assuring them they'll continue privatisation and fast track through planning applications.

Still, 'Sir' Keir will get wins around Aldershot rather than being a Labour leader who has his face placed on shooting targets by their residents.

Hurrah.

If he wins by a lot I think they’ll be annoyed; like Burnham he is a viable alternative to them.

Anyone who annoys Starmer has my backing. But Khan is a natural Blaire IMO.

Burnham I'd more readily define as a social democrat...which is why he's butted heads with an autocrat like Starmer.

I am not sure - some of the things he has come out with lately are much more thought out than anything Blair ever did.

He stuck to his guns on ULEZ too, in the face of dogs abuse and has been proven right. As Mayor I don’t think he has been as good as Livingstone was, but he’s also had it far harder than Livingstone did.

He impressed me here, would have been easy to case in the face of this false flag rallying point for the right wing and centrist media

Indeed, the weasels atop Labour would never have even implemented it, never mind defended it. The contrast with for example the 20mph thing in Wales is clear and depressing.

….he’s shifted Labour to the electable middle-ground, that’s the big difference. After working 40 years in the Public Sector, services are always better under Labour and that’s where they’ll make a difference, I’m sure of that. He’s done a terrific job but in this day and age persona is such a big issue and it’s where he’s lacking.
It's electable because he's against possibly the worst ruling party in a generation.

The personality, values and ideology are what keep you in power. The former will quickly wear thin in Government.
