Starmer wanted a pause, he got one. Hopefully things can progress towards a ceasefire. But to be honest these Countries seem to have been at each other's throats forever.

Correct. But by saying he wanted a ceasefire he would have shown where his ideals lie.

He's chosen the strong over the weak and defenceless; he chose to support a state that's an apartheid obscenity.

A one day pause is better than a ceasefire?

Why is a full ceasefire unachievable? Have ceasefires never happened ever before?

They take demands from governments like the US and to a lesser degree the UK.

A party of principle in opposition in this country DEMANDS that ceasefire...but we haven;t got such a party now...we have Starmer's party who are totally in thrall to the Israeli lobby and petrified of being tainted with the BS anti-semitism tag.

There is an empty shell where the Labout Party used to be.

Simple truth is that at least one more person gets to live today rather than die all because of a pause in hostilities not because of shouting about meaningless ceasefire that interested parties had no interest entertaining.

On a wider note the only echo of vehement dislike you appear share in my life are from people who have some attachment in keeping Northern Ireland part of the UK, all because of his law and prosecuting work in the region. Its an odd paradox.

That's not what's interesting about those numbers. Warnock has been in the Senate for all of two years and he already has taken almost $1 million from the Israeli lobby. Granted, he raised $180 million last cycle.

In general, research has not found that fundraising maps onto votes by legislators, at least in the US. What it has found is that fundraising maps onto legislative text. In other words, you can buy nuance in legislation that benefits your nation or your company. Foreign campaign contributions are supposed to be illegal, but concealing where the money comes from is what your 501(3) is for. There are other interesting methods, such as domestic subsidiaries of foreign-owned corporations.

I would be far more concerned about the fact that Starmer held off on proper disclosure until after the party leadership election, if I were you.
