I think you're missing the issue with what Starmer said here, or purposefully ignoring it. No normal thinking person will have a problem with him condemning the Hamas attack.

So he should, and so should other leaders. But when it went into the 'right to defend herself' which included his refusal to condemn the turn off of water - that's madness

….my understanding is after discussions with the US on Sunday, Israel agreed to switch water supplies on.

As I said, I agree with the stance the US and UK have taken. I’m sure pressure will be brought on Israel by Western Governments. Starmer is supporting that approach, he’s not saying water supply should be cut-off.

the BBC today reported that they turned on one pipe for 3 hours, which was enough for half a village

….and I’m sure Western Governments will put pressure on to change that situation. Defending Israel does not mean supporting every action they take, I’m sure the UK and US Governments will be making their views known and influencing the response.

Hamas are at fault here, Israel are are taking the fight to them. That is rightly being supported by Starmer and most Western leaders. They‘ll be using their positions to try and influence the situation, they won’t be blindly endorsing every Israeli action. Lots of Palestinian civilian will lose their lives, sadly their is little doubt about that.

Correct

…..Starmer continues to make this Labour Party electable, he’s done an amazing job. i have to admit, I thought Starmer would do well to stabilise things and set the party up for the next leader but it looks like he could become PM himself.
He's the Manchurian Candidate. Of course he'll get elected: the official Tories are exhausted with the weight of their own sleaze, the Establishment need a right wing 'Labour' Party to come off the bench and give then a break while carrying out Tory neoliberal and militarist objectives.

You stick The Yorkshire Ripper as the leader of that party now and they'd still get a landslide win.

….ha, ha, they are the worst government I can remember in my 67 years. Saying that, if Corbyn was still leading Labour then we’d not be looking at a victory, never mind a landslide. Not sure where that leaves Corbyn in comparison to Peter Sutcliffe in your book.

Stsrmer has done a terrific job.

...You're perfectly entitled to vote 'Labour' and identify with them, of course. But please don't say "we'd" not be looking at a victory. It'll be no victory for me.

Wake up and smell the coffee. Winning isn't the objective: it should be only the start...but Starmer's party have only the continuation of Tory austerity and deregulation in mind...and that's not a victory for anyone other than a Tory.

Eggs has a great pension from years in the civil service, who would have thought

Stsrmer has done a terrific job.

He hasn’t done a terrific job though.

Just look at the past week and the reaction to his words on Gaza.

Making a party electable doesn’t represent doing a good job. The Labour Party is weaker because of starmer .

Memberships have dropped, good left wing members have either been kicked out or left, and he’s now facing a crisis over his stance on Israel.

He’s just saying and doing whatever is needed to get in power.

As someone who voted for him to be leader he has been a huge disappointment.

Same for me, I voted for him to be leader.

Broke all of his ten pledges within 18 months.

I agree he’s not my choice of Labour leader, but like 777, he’s the only option we have at the moment to get rid of the current gang of ball bags in charge.

yeah, there is a difference between stabilising the party or gutting out all of his opposition within the party - which he has done

him and sunak have the combined personality of a conker. i reckon if the Tories kept Johnson, they would have won the next election
