So much ammunition out there and they run with this. They’re actively trying to lose the next election.
Robinson (I think it was him) basically said to Thornberry that Starmer was on the body that set the guidelines for prosecutions that are currently in use and asked whether he objected to them at the time. She had no answer. It was a bit of a mess.

It seems like the actual leaders never do interviews in the media like this (which, personally, I think is crap), but given that the law is really his bread and butter, he should be owning this and fronting it if they really want to continue with it.

More I think about this, the more I get the feeling that they've played this card asap to limit the effect when it gets played straight back. With so many open goals to hammer the tories so easily, this has to be some form of defensive tactic long term. Looks like the saville smear had more effect that initially let on.

US style personal attacks at the oppositions credibility. Gutter politics. Is Sewer politics the next new low?

"How could you afford to upgrade the electric substation to feed power to your home to heat your private pool, when you had a fixed penalty to pay for partying alongside boris?"

The problem with that belief is that these people are awful at politics, in whatever time-frame you want to consider. They have no more ability to devise long term tactics than they do to shoot laser beams out of their collective arses. To repeat a point I've made oft on here, these are the people who are so good at politics that Corbyn smashed them twice; them sitting out an election resulted in millions more people voting Labour. Many of them looked at Johnson and voted for that creature (directly or indirectly) rather than their own party even though there was no scenario where they would not have held the whip hand if Labour had actually won.

Almost the entire country understands and experiences the impact that "austerity" had on law and order here; all Labour had to do was point to the closed police stations and courts, the declining conviction rates, the damage done to police pay and pensions and then ask where the money went. If they really wanted to talk about nonces then they could point to the failure of the government to bring about any meaningful regulation of the social media firms used by nonces to groom kids, leaving it instead to vigilante groups to sort out.

Instead these heroes of defeat have started a row that will only ever lead to Tory MPs and hacks pointing to the people Starmer as DPP "let go". If he wants to be PM he urgently needs to kick them out of his circle, they will cost him the election and may cost the rest of us more than that.

Voter fatigue over brexit and the minimal stance held by corbyn's labour alongside murdochs media running that he is simultaneously a commie, a czarist, a nazi, an antisemite, a leader of the occult and and and... meant it was easier to tap into apathy and fatigue to 'get brexit done'. That was it, farage was a sideshow to break up the monotony of the tory right wing monopolising the conversation, appearing more level headed by comparison and so more credible. A huge con. Lets see how the upcoming local elections pan out.
A very frightening thought has just occurred to me re the 'sunak on the side of sex offenders' battleplan, I hope whoever has dreamed this up hasn't done so based on associating him with grooming gangs and the scumbag press pushing the narrative tommy tit-head robinson has been vomiting.
Hmmm, worrying.

Honestly, with stunts like this can see them losing the next election. There’s no chance they are smart enough to get a majority.
A million things they can attack the Tories for and they go with this lol

It is probably because they know that (being miles ahead) isn't down to anything they've done, so they have to do something. That it is a stupid something is not something they can yet grasp.
History suggests that we don't tend to vote for change because of anything great the opposition has said or done but rather weariness with those in power. Obviously, I'm not advocating being as anonymous as the Lib Dems, but this election is as big an open goal as is possible to imagine, so just appear normal, not corrupt, and generally wanting to help people.

I hate this iteration of the Labour Party so much.

Its horrible isnt it.

The Greens are pushing hard round here, letters through the door, people knocking, im very tempted to change to them, despite me not even bothering to read what their policies are. I will never vote for the Tory SS Party, but im struggling to find the energy to vote for Starmer the bellend.

Fair few local Tories are now dropping anything to do with Tory or Conservative brand and purposefully making their fliers look like the green party.
