We were 'had' spending 5mil on Distin.....was probably worth 2mil...

Yobo is our 4th choice centre back and 30 years old....4mil is fine....

Heitinga is worth circa 6mil....hes a top player but just doesnt fit with Jags.

Moyes should sell the lot other than Jags and rebuild our defence....it was shocking last season.

Yet strangely our best defensive record for a season for beards involved a centre back pairing of Yobo and Jags, International Captain, who has played in World Cups, ACON, CL, Europa, Cup Finals etc.

4 mill is an absolute steal. Like i say anything under 5 and we have been had. Im a massive Moyesy fan, but i think he his management style sometimes favours a selling club - excludeing Yobo and the Yak for a season has seen potentialy 18 odd mill turn into porb about 6 or 7 mill.

Distin has done well individually as has baines.......as a unit the defence is rubbish

Ah that makes more sense.

Although I think you're being a bit naive. We didn't concede too many, the defence just looked bad because of two things;

1.) The goals we did concede were often because of some ted losing the ball up field and us getting stung on the counter

2.) We were not scoring enough at the other end. That made it even worse when we conceded.

There were not many games we conceded a lot of goals in, either. Besides the WB stuffing the only ones that come to mind are the 3-3 draw with United and the 5-3 Blackpool win. Hardly bad results anyway.

To be honest I have to disagree.....

Yobo is 30 years old.....on 50k a week....African(so plays in the ACON halfway through the season) ....chose to play for Nigeria when he was meant to be injured...

4mil seems like good business to me.

I started a thread asking how Mustafi + Duffy were doing as I hadn't heard much about the recently.....I'd love to know if they are ready to step up and how good they are now + potentially could be -- look at Jones at Blackburn!!

Also Bidwell and Garbutt, are either good enough to be backup to Baines?

We conceded 45 goals last season.....Moyes being an ex defender (and as many comment that we have negative tactics in a lot of games) I would have thought he'd be trying to take that down to under a goal a game.....

In my opinion, an ideal defence would have;
1 -- Attacking left back (same as Cole/Chelsea and Evra/Man Utd) Baines
1 -- Defensively solid Marshall of the defence (Same as Terry/Chelsea and Vidic/Man Utd) Jagielka
1 -- Solid but ball playing center back (Same as (previously) Carvalho/Chelsea and Ferdinand/Man Utd) Vertonghan linked before
1 -- Attacking right back (Same as Bosingwa/Chelsea and Rafael/Man Utd) Coleman ?

The reason I would go with 2 attacking full backs is quite simple.....we take the game to the opposition and due to the full backs strengths the opposition wingers are pushed back. Of course these full backs have to also be defensively capable which is why I'm unsure on Coleman -- is he good enough defensively.....I personally think he 'could be'.

I'd be keen to bring to see if Mustafi/Duffy are good enough to be groomed as our future centre back pairing and also whether Bidwell/Garbutt and Coleman are good enough in the full back positions....

If it's true that we did bid for Vertonghan last summer then Moyes may be looking at this area too.

Be honest though. £3-4m for a player who will never play for us again (rightly or wrongly) isn't bad at all.

You can throw as many stats at it as you like, Moyes is never gonna play Yobo again so get some money in.

Defo this

Not for me lids, we are often to quick to right of our own players.

Yobo won't ever get played and we need the £ so let's say bye.
Also, i'm still feeling like a small child on Christmas eve about the Demba Ba situation, can we have him please? Please?
