To be fair mate, Beckford has little to no experience as a lone striker. Bringing Yakubu on and playing a two man strike partnership could've given him a bit more freedom, and given Yakubu ability to pick a pass, someone who can slip him through in the final third.

We are asking a player who plays on the last defender to be a hold up player and play with his back to goal. It's asking alot of a player who's come from League one.

fair comment TB, he may have improved with the change, but I can see Moyes' thinking as well. Interesting that you say he plays on the last defender. too many times we were trying long balls and he wasn't on the last defender at all, but had dropped deep ala Rooney to try and get involved. Later on, he went more forward and was offside more than once. His positioning and anticipation does seem poor - the difference between yakubu and beckford in those departments was telling.

Where is all this 2-3 mill crap coming from? Maybe that through out his time here but don't forget we had a 10 mill winger on the bench which isn't up to it, fellaini was 18...

He's spent enough money so that we could atleast have a go at Newcastle and not rely on a league one stricker up top on his own

(which we got for free)

I wouldn't disagree with that, certainly on the day, but he's a new player trying to adapt to our way of playing. To be fair to him, he is trying to be a more complete striker, you have to in our system, and that means varying his game and coming short for the midfielders, aswell as trying to run in behind opposition teams. But given his style of player and experience, there's only so much he can do in terms of holding the ball up and linking with the midfielders.

I have actually seen him make some runs that are completely ignored by whoever is in possession, and it's a major problem for us, we don't have a 'passer' who can consistently feed him with that type of service. Thomas Gravesen for example, the amount of times he put Marcus Bent through one on one with the keeper during the 04-05 season, that type of service. Sometimes you've just got to take a chance and hope for the best, our midfielders are too cautious in this area.

Its about what we spend net every season. Yakubu wasn't considered fit to start. Saha is injured. Vaughan has missed loads of football so has been farmed out. The rest are considered developmental projects.

personally I'd include Beckford in that group.

Money wasn't the issue at Newcastle. It is a major issue when you consider Moyes tenure over the last seven years or so, and appraise it. Rather than knee jerk spazzing out on this forum after every defeat. People calling for a managerial change are hopelessly premature and practically the definition of delusional.

still waiting for the name of this mystery genius whose gonna step in and lead us to the Champions League on a few million a season. Spurs have spent 40 or 50 mill every window and only managed to break in there recently on the back of Liverpool's fall from grace and some good stewardship from Redknapp. I can think of one manager who managed to finish in the top four with little money spent - but he already is our manager. Bollocks. Maybe we should sack him.

Quoted for troooooth.

City spent £300m and are playing in the Europa League, Moyes had spent buttons and got us into the CL (almost).

Baffles me that anybody thinks theres a better Man for the job in the world.

I don't understand this post. I posted He's built a that can beat united and chelsea on 2-3 million a year. Why did you then post it with a question mark. Strange.

As for another manager coming in and improving things, I've yet to hear who this mystery man is? Does he have a name?

I thought it was kinda obvious really, but

A : i bet there were plenty of people who didn't think in 2002 we were gonna get a manager in who could turn us from what we were then to what we are now. And i bet there were loads more people who scoffed at the idea of rookie David Moyes from the lower leagues being that man.

But he was. So therefor

B :Its impossible to name any name and say he will do this or that if he becomes our manager. But there are plenty of managers out there, all with the possibility of doing better with the team we have now than Moyes is.

Or they could be worse, either way only way we'll ever know is to take that risk.

And isn't Moyes one of the highest paid manages in the league? Reckon we could get a decent manager for that.

A manager with plenty of experience, both here and abroad who is a good tactician maybe. I'm not familair with every manager going but theres gotta be some.

Of course what we might gain in some ways with a new manager we would lose in others with Moyes.

But like i said, thats the chance you take.

But just for arguments sake lets say Martin Jol. You tell me why he wouldn't do better right now than Moyes is.

luckily we are past the point of sacking the Manager after a few BAD game s coz we dont hav the money is what it will come down to and put sum severe pressure on BK cushy job!!

the prem is sooo money hungry right now that teams / managers / players are under pressure str8 away to do their job at the highest level...the system that we play i feel players need extra time to adjust to it to make it work ill admit im not the biggest fan of it but radical changes during the season in whatever dept is not the answer

You clearly missed his EPIC and I really do mean EPIC fail when in charge of Spurs.

Martin Jol, Slaven Bilic, Howard Kendall again.... :D

I dont have all the answers but i would like to see a change this season.
Someone who has managed in Europe succesfully. I like Jol personally and think he would be fantastic for Everton but who knows?

This a different Martin Jol to the one that had Spurs in the relegation places? That got sacked for being a failure in the premier league. Even though he had 40 or 50 odd million to spend every season.

Most premier league clubs could recruit Martin Jol, its telling that they haven't. He seems to have had transfer money wherever he has gone. He has no pedigree for the job description that Everton manager entails. And failed to get the already fine players at Tottenham's disposal to work for him. He's a decent manager but a poor match for everton.

/waits for somebody to say Steve McClaren........

What made me laugh was and im not even sorry for this, but somebody the other day suggested Darren Ferguson, thats the most comical shout ive heard in a LONG, LONG time.

Anyway, its all good, I just need to sit back and wait for Moyes to wave his magic stick, make us great again, im taking names, prepare to be bookmarked.
