Yeah mate, I think you're right. He's clearly not at all loyal; a mercenary, but he played really well today. If he plays like that for the rest of his Everton career, which is sure to be short, and then we can sell him for a healthy sum I'll be happy tbh.

Yep. See what you're saying. If he wants out then that's a different matter. But he's still showing passion and clearly wants us to win.

I think that's part of the reason.

He has a massive ego I think, so:

a.) He wants to play CB because he thinks he's a boss CB
b.) He wants to play in Europe because he thinks he's a boss CB

We don't offer b.) anymore, and this season he's been playing in midfield/not at all. Jagielka and Distin don't have an ego between them, inversely, although that said what would they be like if they had to play in midfield or not at all?




Anyway, he's great at CB when he puts the effort in. Egos aren't a problem if the player's happy, but if not then there's friction, I guess.

There was an article in Holland's biggest footy mag quoting him saying: "Öne of the reasons, I decided to join Everton, was because the manager promised to play me in my favourite position at CB, that's the position I want to play in and keep inproving in."

There was an article in Holland's biggest footy mag quoting him saying: "Öne of the reasons, I decided to join Everton, was because the manager promised to play me in my favourite position at CB, that's the position I want to play in and keep inproving in."

Anyway, he's keeping Jags out of the team at the moment. I don't know how long that will last before one of them is sold though... but in the summer now surely, with only 2 days left in this window.

He's 6 foot I do believe. Not big for a CB, but not short. I'll admit though, he does kind of look it.

Really think Heitinga's head has grown too big for his shoulders. He wasn't first choice CB at Athletico and he failed to keep it at Everton. Also think the reason he's first choice in the Dutch national team, is mainly down to the poor standard of Dutch defenders.

You're probably right on all accounts there, mate.

However Jags is a Moyes' favourite so on that front, I'd expect to see him return as soon as he's 100%/JH slips up.
