Not only that, the pressure would really be on Joel then.

Joel came into the team due to Howard's injury and there were very low expectations on the teraces.

But he played his way into our affections with a string of solid performances culminating in the now legendary three clean sheets in a row.

Joel was growing into the role.

If the worst was to come to the worst this season, the totally uneccesssry and bizarre decision to fetch Howard, a man who had been having a dreadful season anyway, back into the team would go down as the main reason for it.

Just as the ship looked to be righting itself, the skipper sailed straight back into the choppy waters.

Why, Bobby?

I know mate, created undue pressure on both keepers and it hasn't helped Howard either. Like you said, why do it??

I cannot see how Bobby brings the lad back into the team when he has probably destroyed him by putting Tim in the team after his injury.

Bobby has made a rod for his back now and the FF coaching staff have probably told Bobby the same.

I think this is one of the biggest mistakes made by RM this season. Bringing Howard straight in after injury was not right . Robles had done enough not to be dropped and Howard certainly had not done enough all season to merit an immediate recall.

Look at Mourinho at Chelsea. He brought in Courtois this season and dropped a player who has arguably been the best keeper in the premiership in the last decade and is still only 32.
If you don't play well , then you don't play at Chelsea. It seems RM still needs to learn that lesson for Everton.

He needs to change the team in my opinon, freshen it up . Kone and Osman need to come in and hopefully Baines and Oviedo will be back from injury. He has been loyal to too many players for too long and it has cost us.

Every game Howard plays, Joel gets better.

He'll be southall's equal by the end of another month of Howard throwing the ball into his own net.
Ha ha,the legend of Joel, yeah it was only his last three games we had clean sheets but he was improving and building a good understanding with the defence, five games Howards been back,no clean sheets, enough said really(n)

We probably wouldn't have conceded a goal all season if Joel had been in goal.

i have no doubt in my mind we would comfortably be in the top half if joel had played all season. nothing to do with his abaility, he's got a decent future ahead of him, but nothing special. but what howard has done is just not to everything which should be natural to a keeper. joel does that, if not nothing more.

It's a nightmare though, because you know that Martinez is going to continue playing Howard in every one of our 10 remaining games. Howard has already cost us loads of points this season, how many more is he going to cost over the next two and a half months? How costly is this going to be for Everton?
