Well he's been taking the piss out of the fans all season so might as well start with the players too. Turned into a right jokester has our Roberto. Gonna get us relegated if he's not careful.

the players won't get us relegated thankfully, but he needs to get it into his head that our experienced players are the reason we've had a [Poor language removed] season. players like robles, stones and besic have given us so much more positivity than howard, distin and barry in respective positions.

Yes but unfortunately it appears Barry has some sort of magic clause in his contract whereby he must start games if he is fit, shame as he's absolutely rubbish since we got him on a permanent. :lol: You're spot on though.

same as howard it seems. if he's starting tomorrow i'm not sure i'll tune in (i obviously will because i love everton) but i guarantee i will have turned off before the end because we're losing a game mainly due to a howard blunder. i really don't like the guy anymore, which is sad, because he loves this club and has been a great servant.

He was immense last season but, much like the squad as a whole, his level has dropped significantly this time around, Robles has come in, played well, and needs to be rewarded. I'm not saying he's an ace keeper (Robles) but he's done absolutely nothing wrong and shunting Howard straight back in sends out completely the wrong signals and would be pretty much disgraceful management. If anything if should play against Young Boys (Howard), and then back to Robles to lose his position in the league XI.

Me too, but have a sinking feeling he isn't.

At least it has got a huge section of the fanbase united behind Joel.. So regardless of if he keeps his place or returns to occasional appearances the crowd won't be getting on his back making things harder for him like they did earlier in the season.

The reverse is true of Howard though if he comes straight back in, people will quickly point out any mistakes and say "Robles would have saved that". Perhaps it will encourage him to up his game.
 
If Howard goes back into the first team it is because Roberto is afraid of dropping a big name, he has proven at Wigan that he isn't really a believer in a 'number 1 who will always start'. I hope he starts Joel against Chelski and shows the fans that he is in fact in charge of the team, not the senior players as is becoming increasingly apparent.

It's no surprise really Howards the number 1 and the better keeper but it's no coincidence that in the January window we were looking for someone to challenge Howard stronger, Martinez has said he needs more competition for his place. It's hardly a ringing endorsement for how he rates Robles is it.

Don't you think it's a 2 way thing? The way Robles is commanding his area is breeding confidence in his defence, and the Sterling incident - where he realised he was up against one of the fastest players in the league, and held him up then secured his near post - got Coleman and Stones out of a jam. The way he's been communicating and even high-fiving with Stones, inspires me to believe we're building a young solid foundation from the back.
To bring a has been, who's been out of form all season, back and disrupt our continuity will have me hating a manager I actually wanted before we got him. SSN have confirmed the ridiculous change of goalie, and coupled with the stat that we've played the oldest team in the PL this season, shows Martinez to be a fake when he praises the virtue of a youth policy, and young player development
