Not to piss on Robles' bonfire, but has anybody considered his 'form' coinciding with Stones' return to the team?

Howard has had to put up with Distin and Jagielka who clearly cannot play together, with the latter being dragged down to the former's level. Now we can see Jagielka for the player he is, with his form having picked up greatly since John Stones has been in the side.

That's not to say Robles hasn't been good, as he has, and he imo deserves his spot.

i feel we should calm a bit here. dont get me wrong, Im very happy that Joel has proved us wrong and he has huge potential no question about it...but i also think we've gone all drunk on him.

Beards and him...pretty solid pair of keepers we got. Joel nro uno next season.

Bit of both, good form by Joel and stones has come back too.

The thing you cant argue with is the mistakes howard makes, thats nothing to do with the players in front of him, its all on him

Dropping Robles is a categorical no, for many reasons.

Besides, we're playing Chelsea and we'll more than likely concede whoever is in goal. But if we put Howard in and he concedes, people will seek to solely blame him given that Robles has been keeping clean sheets. This is another reason why it's a bad idea.

There's no reason to throw Howard back in, its not as if he's Courtois, Neuer or De Gea.

Howard having Distin in front of him doesn't account for him letting a cross go through his hands onto Frazier Campbell's head against Crystal Palace, or palming a weak shot straight to the feet of Erikson against Tottenham, or palming a weak shot straight to Bobby Zamora against QPR, or letting Sone Aluko beat him at his near post against Hull, or letting Ivanovic's shot go straight through him against Chelsea.

I can go on but I think you get the point.

Or letting 2 Swansea players beat him at his near post in the cup, or kick the ball straight to a United player when 5 yards outside his own box, or handle the ball outside the box against Chelsea and fortunately escape a red card, or bring down James McArthur when going absolutely nowhere to give away a penalty, or jump up and down on his line while the softest of Slippy G free kicks sails past him, or punch the ball in his own net against Chelsea last season, or just be generally completely gash

I don't think Howard is very good at football

I don't think Stones was responsible for all the saves he made at West Ham or in the other games. Stones is brilliant but we'll be nominating him for the Nobel Peace prize next.

one could say that but that doesn't mean it is true. Keeping Joel in the prem games will keep his confidence up and allow him to develop while Howard can handle the Europa games to give him a breather. It's not as if I'm here saying Howard's amazing and Joel's cack, I just think that would be a good balance for the squad.

Next you will be saying Joe Max Moore thought Rooney every thing he knows.

Lets also not forget that Stones played games in the first half of the season when Howard was in goal, and we were still leaking goals. Stones has started 8 games with Howard behind him, and we conceded 11 goals and kept 1 clean sheet. He's started 5 with Robles behind him, we're unbeaten (barring pens at West Ham) have kept 3 clean sheets and only conceded 3 goals.

I'm a fan of neither Robles or Howard these days, but I'd stick with Robles currently.

Both have been good on their day, but neither are EFC standard however Joel is closer at the mo.
