I'm a staunch RM loyalist no matter what people say about him, have been from day 1 but if he drops Robles for Tim Iroegbunam'll fume. I think it will be terrible man management above all else, a total smack in the chops for Robles and the wrong signal to send out to the rest of the squad. If you aren't playing well, you shouldn't be automatic choice. How many years you've been at the club is irrelevant

This. For those saying Joel hasnt been tested much in the last few games, Howard wasnt tested in the games at home to Palace, or Swansea in the Cup, Liverpool away, United away, Sunderland away, Spurs away etc. but still managed to fluff goals in because of his own cock ups. Maybe Joel hasnt faced many shots in the few games, but he has been excellent at taking the pressure off. How many crosses did Palace chuck in last week and he's caught them comfortably under a bit of pressure and then the pressure is off? Howard has been diabolical this season, being a keeper is about more than just making saves, and you can see now that this defence feels confident with Joel behind them. I never got that feeling earlier this season with Howard in the side.

It's not all the reason but that consistency is something Howard didn't have in the games he's slated for

Since Hull Joel has made contributions through important saves or coming for crosses in every match.
Dont care who back 4 are ; Joel has contributed massively.
 
I think Joel has much more of a presence than Tim Howard and not just height. He is more robust than Howard...that block on Stirling on Saturday had me thinking Howard would have let that one slip through his near post. Ok, hes hesitated at times but I put that down to getting games under his belt/the pace of the Premiership and also his confidence up and running after what was a shaky start to say the least. I was concerned about the way he was playing at first I must admit, but Im thinking now can we afford to let Howard back in simply because of his seniority. And Im thinking No we cant.

Not saying he hasn't, as someone who welcomed his signing and stood up for him while most of the others were slagging him off before seeing him in prolonged action (I've been, and am still, 100% behind Kone as well for what it's worth), I'm just saying Joel has had the benefit of what we would now call out first choice back four. Howard has not, even when he had a 'first choice' back four in front of him it contained Distin.
 
Even with his current run of games, Robles has only made about 60+ competitive first team appearances across AM, Wigan and us. That's not a lot in the grand scheme of things and the recent improvement in his game is obvious. More to come?
