Joel has that shirt now, there was one slight dither down the street end when he was neither on the line or out but nothing came from it, aside from that he got in the right position right through the game, good stuff, his confidence must be growing each week.

Some keepers are more confident than others at reading the ball in behind, he had a right mess against krasnodar and wouldnt surprise me if when he got half way out against sterling he panicked slightly and that's why he backtracked but except for that i think he was good again, did the basic saves without any fuss, did brilliantly against ibe when oviedo completely shut off and stayed big against sterling when barry decided to just let sterling run through and shoot.

For any one that still doubts him its going to have to be a put up with it and accept him for what he does well, the truth of the matter is based on this season he has earned the right to be the starting #1 regardless of if howard is fit and unless we somehow find a way into european competition any potential GK coming in this summer will be a high risk signing as no proven european level GK will join a side out of the european competitions.

Did he do the right thing early in the match when he came halfway out to meet Sterling? Sterling ended up putting it into the side netting. I've noticed a pattern where he seems to get caught in the middle on similar plays. Is that the right thing to do?
Wouldnt look too much into that mate , he only done what any other keeper would in that incident.
He actually had the brains to stop from going full pelt & diving at Sterlings feet risking a penalty.
Thought the lad done exactly what he was asked to do all of the game...good on him.

Decent keeper, crap penalty taker. He's been no worse than Howard this season since he's come in. Actually decided not to hurl himself at Sterling as well, which was nice.
