The Illicit Power of Our Overpaid and Underachieving Players

So still behind us, yes?

Totally agree. But what will happen? A new manager will come in and all players will get a fresh chance to fail again. “He needs 12 months to assess the squad”.

Richarlison will know this and will leave. He does not have time to do this cycle again.

They need to get it spot on, I’ve got no confidence in this board to make a right decision, and I’m terrified of what may happen if Kenwright gets to be the main chief behind it.

If so, we’re getting Rooney, and it’s a disaster immediately.

They’ve got one last chance at keeping your key players like Richarlison, Gray, DCL and Pickford.

Oh yeah?

And how is that brought about?

The floor is yours....

In a way getting Benitez out will have the positive effect of getting rid of the literal red rag to bulls amongst the fan base. Some people have become so obsessed by their hatred of him that they’re ignoring Everton defenders sabotaging the club week after week. Hopefully if he does leave we can get onto the critical issues that need resolving.

Coleman Keane Holgate Kenny Davies Delph Iwobi Siggurdson all need to leave the club as a starting point. Get these clowns out and at least give a manager a chance.

Gomes is on borrowed time as his consistency is absolutely wretched. Him and Docuoure were awful yesterday, awful.

They have performed. Just to their level, not to the level we want them too. Lowest finish under Moshiri is 12th.

Benitez is the only manager in that crop of managers to get nothing out of the squad.

Big Sam would've done better than Benitez. I can confidently say that.

They haven’t got the bottle mate. The reality is we’ve got some really good, quality pieces in our squad, but they’re surrounded by players who are mostly bystanders.

They’re just not good enough, the issue now is, we can’t just buy our way out of it, and we’ve got an Owner meddling wherever possible.

Anyone would have done better than Benitez, I honestly believe that. Delve into the archives of awful Premier League managers, and they’ve have all done better.

The thread is about players hiding behind the manager and throwing him under the bus. Yet the manager will blame the players.

Mistakes come when you invite pressure. We have the 3rd lowest possession stats in the league. You bring that much pressure week in week out, mistakes will happen

We do not have the players to hold possession, they are all poor on the ball and physically weak or not disciplined enough positionally. We do not have ball playing CBs or full backs who can sit higher up the pitch (because the midfield are not able to cover them).

As others have said, hopefully Benitez going will allow some fans to finally wake up.

Good enough for what though? They've shown they're good enough for midtable/top 10 and nothing more. That's your basis to start from.

The whole point from last season is that we missed out on a top 7 finish by 3 points. Surely its a case of adding and adapting to improve from last season?

Benitez dropped the ball. He went backwards on every stat going because he wants to put his own stamp on things. The problem is...he's now a terrible manager to do such a thing.

Ancelotti knew this and made is work. Now "work" means as a functional unit not success.

This bit especially - we did, via the signing of Gray and Townsend, improve on last season. This is a better squad than what Ancelotti had.

Like we’re the only club that has these players - not.
Our problem is the wrong type of manager.
We only work with an ex player in charge, non of these overhyped foreign coaches or managerial journey men.
Only ex players know the standard expected and can give the motivation needed.
The worse thing is that the next manager will come in and go hmm

Okay Keane, Rondon and Coleman will start every game

Unless it’s a young manager

That's was always the issue when Carlo left. New man, new ideas, clean slate.

I always said that the manager will no doubt do the same but will have to adapt quickly and find the same issues Carlo did.

Raffa didn't.

Benitez was the one that picked them though.

Coleman has been terrible all season; Kenny is a clear improvement and we've spent money on Patterson yet who started yesterday?
