I have not always been the most fervent fan of DM but when you break down the different qualities of the ideal manager then our Davey comes out top.
1. Seeks out quality players from a lower league and gets them to play to international standard.(Cahill, Jags, Lescott)

2. Gets international level players and gets them to play even better.(Yak, Stevie P, Arteta)

3. Is liked by his players but also respect and fear him.

4. Plays attractive football.(This hasn't always been the case but now he is getting in all the players he wants we are starting to see more expansive play in the formation that he prefers)

5. Can tactically outwit his opponents.(We saw last night how he played Cahill in such a way that it negated the effectiveness of Hamann. Sometimes his substitutions have been lacking. This could be that whatever he used to have on the bench was far less effective than what he had on the pitch. We are starting to see this change for the better also.)

6. Creates stability.(look at how much better he is than Beneathus at rotating and keeping the team playing well.)

Let's not forget that he is doing all this without a full time assistant. DM is getting better and better and we could soon be challenging for all honours consistantly. Being a top four club every season is not a pipe dream anymore and DM should be given the freedom of OUR city for giving us our pride back just as the Dome did.

Great post all on a shoestring. This is the deepest squad I've seen in ten or so years and not being relegation fodder has its merits also. Still one or two players away to take us to the next level.

And he's learning from his mistakes too , last seasons fatal substitution against Spurs for example.I thought he'd struggle without Alan Irvine, but if anything, he's flourished.

Yeh good post.

I got a bit moist when I saw the bench against Brann-

Leighton Baines
Tony Hibbert
Stefan Wessels
Manuel Fernandes
James Vaughan
Victor Anichebe

The past of a bench full of not very good centre backs is well and truly gone.

And to think we still have people calling for his head. Remember those on the TW site who claimed he had taken us as far as he could after we followed up 4th with 11th.

I wonder how miserable Luq Yus and Tony Marsh are right now

Right man at the right time for Everton. We seem to be the other side of the coin from Leeds. The patient approach this club have developed have Everton on the verge of Europe. The quick-fix, "get rich or die trying" attitude of Ridsdale and O'Leary have Leeds enjoying Saturdays in Doncaster and Carlisle.

Boy now that takes me back. I needed a good laugh then as a do now. What were those people thinking. The time bubble of the eighties can only last so long we had to trust his vision or we would be Coca cola bound.

The best its got to be said pound for pound manager in the leauge!

Lets hope we are the only ones who think so.

I often wonder if he was English, would he of managed the England team by now?

its said genius borders insanity. for that alone, brian clough. a man so nuts he punched his own supporters, a man so belligerent and ahead of his time that the cowards at FA HQ wouldnt give him the job he was custom made for.

how much is ginger hair dye?

I can't see Moyes being tapped up as he has too much credibility for that. He wants to finish a job and will want to win something with us. The only problem will comw when he has won something and no more funds come to make us challenge for the league. Then he may move.

I think he might fancy the Scotland job in a few years time ,other than that he will stay here I have to hold my hand up for criticising his style of play a while back and I am delighted with the improvement this season.(y)

hes ours and we love him and he loves us, but when its cuts to the bone, theres a small line of celtic writing.

glasgow born.

remember.
