Done.
Finished.
Seasons over and we were right all along.
Eleven reserves could take the pitch on Sunday and we would probably cheer louder. Not because any lack of faith in the collective eleven that take the field week in, week out, but rather than hoping on hope for big money to come sniffing, we'd rather see a few of the young fellas given a cheeky shot. Mix it up now we've swerved the prize again for the ump-tired time in a ump-tired generation. I liked Mini Macaleny's cameo a while back, Velios' Midas touch and whether or not our favourite Portuguese mystery man, that Brazilian, 'Jr' are the latest incarnations of the comedy duo Anderson and Rodrigo are stepping up next anytime this millennium is anyone's guess.
Do you persist with the seemingly perennial though still only 21 or 23 or somethings Anichebe and Rodders? Will they finally explode onto the scene and vie, as Captains for their England V Nigeria, World Cup Final, 2018 and then again in an even more epic finale in the 200,000 seater, inflatable, climate cooled Qatari Global InflateArena in 2022?! I hope so. That would be sick.
But, as true as any Australian starting the sentence with the word But, the fact is, we want to win something, and it didn't happen. Even though all the pointers were pointing with us, and the all the omens and the feelings and the results and the things you read online saying how many *problems* they had and how we were finally *buzzing*, just, balls swinging finally playing well, putting moves together (thanks Steve, and Leon) and then Bam! And the seasons gone.
Well. You know what, it hasn't. Round 35 of 38 in the English Soccerball League sees the Soccerball League Leaders, hath, notorious, givers and takers away (for mates rates) arise, Sir Manchester of United, host us, Everton, in a match that could see us either give Mancini the reacharound he so desperately desires or will hand the holy Buffer Zone Of Three More Points willingly over to the (red)Devil(s)?
I hand you over to the man, with much straighter tongue than I,
your host for the evening,
Mr. Chico Raoul Rodriguez Azul
