An amazing athlete, but I can never forgive him for the way he portrayed Joe Frazier - a good, honest fighter without the media savvy or clout of Ali - as an Uncle Tom. Frazier was anything but.

He went to his grave hating Ali, and understandably so. Ironically, in trying to take the moral high-ground, Ali played to the white man's gallery.

Aye. The gorrilla comments were out of order as well. Created an awful lot of genuine animosity and made for great fights, but it really damaged Joe.
Still, probably one of the greatest sportsmen, in every sense, there will ever be.

I think he would have been ferocious enough to do so, but he was an emotional cripple, Ali would've out-psyched him

I understand what you're saying, and Ali had greater longevity where Tysons prime was very short due to his fighting style and his personality (moving away from Kevin Rooney). But tyson at his peak carried more power than Frazier and would have destroyed him, Tyson later on in his career would have been nocked senseless by a dancing Ali.

All opinion though, but I remember seeing a clip of Cuz D'Amato and Ali arguing who would win between Ali and Frazier. Cuz was astute and gave his reasonings why Frazier would win and Ali countered. In reality I think it gave a good overview of why Tyson would have beat him in his prime, Tyson had better movement and faster hands and carried greater power. Tyson's speed was very much underestimated, and in his prime he didn't get hit!

very true that mate, but we'll never know what Ali was really like in his prime because he never actually fought in what would've been his peak years.

I agree with what you're saying about Tyson and his abilities as a more "squat" fighter, I'd say a lot of that was down to his lateral movement, but I'll say if they both could've have fought in their prime, I'd trust Ali to have overcome it, same as he did with Foreman (in his prime) when Ali was near enough over the hill.
