Just thinking, would you consider this event to be scouse?

Do you think people associate Liverpool with it, or just a big f-uck off horse race.

From research, not many people realise where its held.

I think it's a huge sporting event that's recognised as 1 of the biggest horse races in the UK (not sure if The Derby is bigger as I'm not a horse racing fan, the Cheltenham Gold Cup is big too) that we're lucky enough to have on our doorstep. I'm sure there will be people here who are really into the horses but I think it's a nationwide event & even though I don't like the sport itself, it's always a great day out that I'm gutted that I'm missing out this year

The whole of the north west seems to stop of a National Saturday afternoon. I suppose with no footy on I suppose we have no choice. I think Cheltenham to Aintree is like Champions League to UEFA Cup.

Garde Champetre wins the National by the way (y)

I hate the National, which tends to produce the violent death of at least one healthy horse every year. I'd ban it! :(

MOYES OUT!

Do you think its a scouse event though?

Not scouse in the sense of it being packed with loads of lovable lids in trackies, but defo a Liverpool event. I presume everyone that claims to like the race would know it's in Liverpool.

I'd still ban it, lad. :@

Is exactly what Im getting at.

Its in Sefton, therefore a wool event.

Think on KenWRONGers.

Really, I always thought it was Liverpool. It's only the other side of Walton. What I like about you Chico, is you always give a fact that is worth knowing.:lol:

It is mate, just like Kirkby's on the other side of Fazakerley but to the "its out the city" beauts - I just wanted to point out that based on the same criteria, the National is now a wool event.

I can see where you're coming from, but when you think about it horses are bred & live a life of luxury for events like this. Even though it turns my stomach whenever I see a horse fall (more so as I get older for some reason) to the point of me hating watching, horse racing is responsible for so many horses being bred & having great lives. Even though some unfortunately die, the majority live full, happy lives & banning the sport would stop that happening

A much despised sporting event, mainly because i live so close to it and resent my daily routine being disturbed by suit wearing whoppers and those ridiculously long limo's trying to secretly park outside my house.

Fair comment, but the National is too dangerous. I know that a lot of horses are treated well and have great lives. I just don't see why they can't just make the National safer? Then I suppose it wouldn't be as exciting. However, I'd support the horses before the excitement of people any day. It's not like the horses enter the race themselves. So we kind of owe it to them to at least make the course reasonably safe. At the moment, it's very, very unsafe, which isn't the case with most other races.

Why would you ban it lad??

It is definately a scouse event, it is watched by millions each year and attendances both viewing and spectator, get bigger each year. It is not just a huge race in this country, it is massive worldwide.
