The GOT Book Club

Quality read that. Read through that and 'Barbarossa' straight after each other when I was going through a War book stage ;)

Also, try:

Deffo worth a read imo

Just finished this, thanks for the recommendation mate. It's as good if not better than Antony Beevors Stalingrad and Berlin.

It truly does bring home of the horrors of the war fought in the Burmese jungle on both sides and Keane doesnt judge either side. The levels of human endurance are incredible as are the levels of courage in the face of overwhelming odds. The last chapter about the veterans moved me to tears and I can't remember a non fiction book that's ever moved me so much.

Wonderful book - 9 Victoria Crosses out 10.

Magnus Mills. He writes deceptively simple allegorical-type novels, all of which are a bit disturbing in a very understated way. He's a bit like Kafka in many ways - there's an underlying sense of menace that never quite 'blows up', mostly because the odd stuff that happens is just accepted. The Restraint Of Beasts was his first, but A Cruel Bird Came To The Nest And Looked In is probably his best.

image.webp Iain Banks - Transition.

A world in which the elite can travel to different realities allegedly to alter things for the good of everyone - Transition.

Shades of Orwell run through the book. Complex but a good read.

8 Tardis out of 10.
