Hi mate, I remembered you're a cycling fan. Out of interest have you read Racing Through the Dark by David Millar? If so what did you think of it?

I have. It's an ok book and does shed light on that era, and perhaps does so in a slightly more appetising way than many other from that time (ie from Landis, Hamilton, Armstrong et al). I guess much of how you feel about the book will rest on how you feel about Millar himself. Is he a positive voice and reformed character in this new era, or is he acting out the Saint David role he's crafted for himself?

Personally I tend to veer more towards the former than the latter, but given how dishonest so many cyclists have been over the years I don't blame anyone for being a bit cynical about it all.

Agree with all that really, got about 50 pages left to read. I tend to think he is being genuine for most of the book and that makes me improve my opinion of him. One thing I can't quite believe, though, is the constant good relations he states about having without everyone (maybe except some of the Brits) following the ban and speaking out; but maybe pro cycling is quite forgiving of those who doped? It just seems to me he has left a few things out that maybe aren't so pleasant. One thing I am certain of, now, is that since his ban he hasn't doped.

My typing is atrocious this morn. Agincourt ffs
Its a alternate look at the Robin Hood series, based in wales. Very different to anything I've read as based on the story. Darker, with great character development and a fascinating setting. If you didnt know it was a Robin Hood series to start off with you would almost never guess until you get into its guts.
I would highly recommend it.

Chomsky is a nutter and you can quite easily ignore 90% of what he says. That being said he does accasionally bring up some points that it would be nice if people delved into deeper. Just people who aren't him really.
On what basis is Chomsky a nutter?
Between him and Naomi Klein they put a very cohesive argument against rampant untethered corporatism and back it up with well researched and documented facts. He is far from being a nutter.

The Shock Doctrine is and excellent book IMHO. Mark Curtis is also an author worth reading.
