The Future (Thread)

Never heard of him, but an attack minded right back is one of the three positions we need to fill in the squad.

I just join to wish your club luck in the future and see how you like my man nikica, seeing this I have to suggest Darijo Srna(don't know if you heard of him), he's contract is expiring and he's exactly that and a great player...he wants to leave this summer.

Nice one fella. I think it's safe to say we all pretty much like Jelavic so far, he's given us exactly what we need up front.

Stopped reading when you said Heitinga was a snide....

Nah great read this. Oh how the attitude to the future could have been so different. I think it's our way, I remember Moyes saying at the start of this season about how we need to go back to old ways of 04/05 when we were a side that was first and foremost difficult to break down, full of graft and guile, determination and hard work. 09/10 we were very pleasing on the eye at times, Arteta dictating, Pienaar cutting inside and I genuinely thought we were good to watch. Was Arteta really THAT important to us to make us change our style of play, don't get me wrong we've always been a side that love a physical battle, defense first but we could play then. I just think now as soon as we get a lead and even before that at times, we play for a 1-0 victory and at times play for a 0-0. 41 games at OT, the Bridge, Anfield, Emirates: 0 wins and 14 draws. Not good enough. Not to mention no trophy and he gave THEM a 3-0 win in order to concentrate fully on changing that.

Anyway.. not going to rant about Moyes forever but he does need to change the way we play... examples off the top of my head are Spurs away.. lost 2-0 not arsed no conviction. In the reverse fixture we got a goal thanks to Jelavic (what would we have done without him lately?) and defended the WHOLE 2nd half. People will say we won stop moaning and believe me I love 1-0 wins and grinding out results and love how we're a team that get into oppositions faces, stops them playing, high tempo get the crowd going and all that... but it doesn't need to be like that against the Wolves and Stokes of this world.

So yeah, Moyes needs to alter our mentality because let's face it we are capable of doing better with this squad, I actually think the current squad is one of our strongest in a long time, albeit we have 3 or 4 loanees.

What I would do has no relevance, but we do need to sell dead wood such as (sorry to say it) McFadden, Hibbert, Neville (would like him to be involved, maybe as a coach.. been there seen it done it an all that) Do we need Jagielka? Debatable, in Johnny, Distin and Duffy we'd have our FUTURE captain - I'm sure of it - an experienced CB along side him, I think Distin has 1 year more in him maybe more. And in Duffy, someone who has terrific potential and has shown he is capable already this season. So I agree with the folk above, 10m for Jags WOULD HAVE been great, but we won't get that offer again.

We need to buy for the future? Perhaps.. but in Coleman, Duffy, Junior, Rodwell, Barkley, Vellios and Gueye, we have a really good crop who will be key in our future I feel. Definitely 4 of those 7 anyway.. apparently Luke Garbutt, Bidwell, Forshaw and Hope are all ones to look out for, so that's positivity right there. And let's not forget, the best defensive mid in the prem imo, is relatively young too, Maro Fellaini..... I'm stuck on Anichebe tbh, remember watching him 06/07, 07/08 and thinking wow he's one for the future. Injuries... which brings me to Rodwell's progress.. where's Barkley been... Moyes always says we're the best club for youngsters as they get their chance, I disagree with that shall we say.

So, our trophyless years are behind us thanks to this team..

GK: Howard - Heading towards the end of his career, won us the champ. league on pens

RB: Coleman - 'I told you he'd be boss at RB'
CB: Heitinga - Now Everton captain, my desktop background is him lifting the trophy.
CB: Duffy - Ireland regular and contender for young player of the season.
LB: Baines - Finally starts ahead of A.Hole for Engerland and named in team of year.

DM: Fellaini - Finally in a team contending for major honours like he deserves to be.
CM: Rodwell - This is that man.
CM: Barkley - BOOM! No explosions nowadays, and just turned down a move to Real Madrid.

RW: Muniaim - Signed months after he ripped Utd apart 3 years ago now. Ballon d'or contender.
ST: Jelavic - 36 goals in all comps 14/15 all first time finishes.
LW: Fry - Signed from Fulham after Jol left, young, pacey and skilful.

Seriously. That side, on paper, could match most. However we'll probs still have Hibbert, Neville, Cahill and Osman in the team years from now and have McFadden playing the lone striker role. Bought back Bily and David Weir from the Rodwell money....HA. I worry about going backwards, mediocre for me isn't good enough. I love Moyes but we do need change.. because I can't see him changing, can you?

Walking out of Wembley was painful as I heard the bad bellends singing Davey Moyes is a football genius & 10 more years... however I'm still hurting right now as must all of you be, but I think we need change to be optimistic about the future, as we've seen it time and time again.. falling on the big stage under Moyes.

Having said that, I ****ing love David Moyes (I do, but is he the man for us NOW?) and I ****ing love Everton Football Club.

What is with Ross Barkley? I remeber him from some game early this season, great player with ba**s! Didn't see or heard about him in awhile.
joko,Darijo Srna? Forget it:mellow:

About an hour.

Its the last I'll talk about it this season so might as well go out with a bang,

Didnt help when my United supporting mate text me "you will never have a better chance to ever beat THEM and you blew it" so I thought I'd get it off me chest.

You spent an hour writing a post on GOT?

There you go, some more patting on the head for us, supporters of David Moyes' Everton FC.

"Curiously, Moyes's players seemed to lack belief. Curious because man-management and motivation are particular skills of the Scot.

Everton retreated into themselves in the second half and once Liverpool equalised there only looked like being one winner.

Everton's supporters will forgive him that, of course, especially if he can finish above Liverpool in the League. Those same fans, though, must also understand if Moyes takes an opportunity to try his luck somewhere else.

It seems odd to say it, given Everton's rich heritage and their place in our game, but Moyes's talents are deserving of a bigger stage."

Another classic from the Daily Fail.

Some excellent points bythe OP.

Are problem posistions are clear.
RW LW ACM and to a lesser extent RB.

We have a solid GK. 3 excellent CB's. Top quality LB. If a cheap RB became available that would improve us fine but going into next season, coleman hibbert and neville could share that spot.

Central midfield is also strong with fellani gibson and rodwell fighting for 2 posistions. There is also the young junior. To a lesser extent cahill and ossie can back up as squad players. Again id say im happy with our very capaple CM.

Ok, this is where were weak. You win games from here and dictate how the team is going to play The 2 wingers and ACM. Cahill is finished as a ACM. Ossie has stepped into that role and done well, also vastly improving the football we play but hes not a big game player. A squad player in that role is the best he offers. Other option.. Barkley. Were all hoping hes the next big thing and will give us that player we need there. I personaly think he is the real deal If not we need to buy someone this summer!

This season we have dramatucally improved when we have been able to field at least one of drenthe pienaar or donovan on a wing. I would love to start next season with pienaar and donovan. Drenthe looks like hes off but its essential we sign 2 wingers of the above type. They allow you to counter, they create and they score.

Strikers we have a good one in jelavic, the rest are pretty weak tbh. Vic needs a season on loan. Straq wont be here and is not good enough leaving the young vellios and maybe mcaleny.. Jury still out on those too. We need to sign another.

Pienaar is a top priority come summer. Would solve LW and can also play ACM.
If Barkley is the real deal id leave buying a ACM. Rotating barkley and ossie, ocassionaly cahill.
RW, id love donovan but at best cant see anything happening till december if at all. I imagine we need to buy someone here.

Sort those 3 posistions and we would be fine. I really believe that

nice post , agree with most of it .. didnt read all like cant concentrate this early
