The football League Cup

We've got a good enough squad to use this as a chance for fringe players and youngesters to get some time. Only really thw QF and semis where sides as good as us take this uber-serious.

We have to give it a proper go this year. I think it's a ridiculous competition that nobody cares about in the slightest; however, it's going to be a transition season where we will probably finish in the top eight by default but not challenge the ECL places, so we may as well focus on the cup competitions and see if we can get the "we haven't won anything since 1995" monkey off our backs.

Martinez never played his first team in cups at his previous clubs, he won't do it here either.

But then we rarely lost games because our teams were too week, we lost them because our experienced players didn't turn up (see fellaini, pienaar and heitinga vs leeds last year).

Blue cheese, sorry mate but you can't compere what the league cup used to mean (before the premership) to what it means now. Moyes had loads of chances to brake the "trophy drought" with loads of easy cup runs and his teams always blew them cos we never took lower league sides seriously. That's what I ment about Moyes falling, you have to show respect to these teams or you'll regret it but Moyes never lerned that lesson. Leeds last season is just the tip of the iceburg. Seriously can you name a single league cup run we've had apart from the 07-08 one cos I can't! that's 11 years to win a trophy none of the "big sides" take seriously.
