Thing about defensive midfield though a lot of the work is done of the ball, its not just about reaking up play, holding pocession and distrabution, its about position play and marking and minimising space - Carsley made a career of it.

I wouldn't cry if Anichebe or Mucha went.

I actually think we need Neville for another season just for his dressing room influence - my understanding is that He and Cahill were the main men there - don't want to lose them both.

Velios and Coleman both deserve another season and wouldn't fetch that much anyway.

As long as Baines, Fellaini and Jelavic are still here on September 1st I will be happy

We obviously see two different games and a universe of difference in players when we watch the match. Thats cool. Just one more thing, Moyes chancing him and sticking with him, how many other players has Moyes signed that stepped straight in?

Donovan, Jelavic, Yakubu, Arteta, Neville, Howard etc...its not really a relevant point because most of the time he signs players to play.

And how was Moyes "chancing" on him like he was some league 2 player? He's a united reject not some bloke from MK Dons, so he's gonna be able to play at our level

Donovan doesnt count as he was just a loaner, and with a short time to play was always going to be thrown in.
Jelavic was the very late replacement for Yak.
Arteta was played from the off, same goes Nev. Howard is a keeper.
For me, I look at players like Baines, Jagielka, Coleman, Pienaar, Gueye, Heitinga, that were all filtered in slowly (very slowly in Baines case) before becoming anything close to first team regulars. That little group of current players Moyes has brought in slowly contains how many players of the season for us?

All had to shift out 1st team players as competition before coming in.

Gibson didn't as Rodwell was injured. Gibson also admitted he came in to be a box to box player but ended up becoming a player who just sits because Fellaini ends up being that box to box player.

Other than that he has an close to retirement Neville, or Heitinga who cemented his place at centre half, as competition.

So...again, I don't see you point.

Who did they shift?
With regards 'box to box' how many times has Moyes brought a player in and given them a run in one role before they end up playing another?
Moyes was heavily linked with Diame from Wigan, the defensive mid slot is a position I still reckon he will ponder.

They didn't shift anyone, they slotted in.

With Baines, Jags etc they had to shift Yobo, Lescott, Valente (cb and lb) Osman (rw), Hibbert (rb), McFadden (lw), there's always been a player in that position that they compete for.

Gibson didn't have that when he signed as Rodwell was injured and were very light in the middle of the park. Different ball game for this season as players are fit. But when he signed, he signed to slot in as Moyes admitted we were light and he became available for an affordable price

Can handle that. Statham and Sly remain.

I would have called Cahill Sly. Old, past his best but the face of the group, who may not be the tallest but he's solid and gives me a woody.

All we've got now lad is Dolph Lundgren and a cameo from Schwarzenegger when Donovan comes back for 12 weeks after Christmas.
