Glad the francs are going back up a bit.
I got mine about a week before it dropped and got a rate of around 1.477

Yeah, i got my first batch (about £60 worth), whilst i wasn't that skint, at the start of January, then today got some at 1.31. So maybe it's worth hanging ona bit longer.

Edit: 1.34 on the Asda website now.

Ps according to website Thomas Cook trip is oversubscribed.....this has to be a good sign.....how many planes do they normally take away?

I think it's oversubscribed, because there's probably a demand of 5,000, but cause there aren't that many ways to get there (13 hour drive, if you're brave, and don't stop), or over £200 to fly from Manchester/Newcastle/Leeds, or less if you're willing to do 200+Miles down to london, like myself, even then, my full milage will be. 630miles before i include Airtime, so it's not an easy trip to make, unlike Germany where you could fly seemingly anywhere within a 100 miles radius for buttons.

So i can see why people would definitely do the club trip. Plus it's no hassle whatsoever, just a rip off sadly!

We are flying stansted too Basel and hiring a car for dirt cheap. Gonna do a quick beer run into Germany, to a aldi, where I assume it will be at least 3 times as cheap as in Switzerland. Hopefully don't get stopped going over the border and have to pay duty on it!

I think the 40 franc charge on driving in Switzerland will be your big issue!

3 of us staying in the Novotel near the Stadium on the Weds & Thurs - any decent bars around there or do we need to tram it back into the Old Town?

i'm a bit late answering this, sorry.

take the tram back to the city or to breitenrain (2 stops away -> barbiere, vetter herzog, tramway).

or follow the papiermühlestrasse to the rosengarten (rose garden) it's a 5 minutes walk.

there is a restaurant and a nice view over the old town. a few steps away is the altes tramdepot where you will get the best homebrewed beer in bern (the märzen is my favorite). it's a bit touristic though.

Many thanks naughtyyoungboy, we'll be sure to try the altes tramdepot - get yourself there and I'll buy you a pint!

Am I right in thinking that the Supersaver train tickets from Zurich to Bern will be available on Thursday?
