I see some people mentioning Stanek? Is he actually any good as it seems we have lots of hyped young keepers who never come through?

Defenders it looks like, Garbutt, Galloway,Stones,Browning and possibly Holgate, Kenny,Robinson.

Midfielders Besic, Barkley,Deulofeu and possibly Dowell,Walsh and Ledson whose dropped off the map recently.

Forwards no one.

McCarthy being the 'old man' of the Group.

Your of ur rocker if u think the names on that list will be our golden generation . Mclaeny is like what 22? And has barely featured for a poor Everton side with little competition in his place. The truth is we will be lucky if one of them become solid prem players (outside stones n coleman)
I did say off the top of my head. I'm a London Evertonian and don't have the advantage of seeing the first team often, let alone the fringe players or U21s, so I go by comments made by the GOTers lucky enough to live in the NW. That's why I suggested your thoughts.

Mind you, I'm off my rocker anyway :hayee:

You callin' me a w*nker, son?
No!! I save those kind of insults for the game - or driving.
We need to take the eggs back to Young Boys

Good to see Galloway, Browning and Stones today in defence...Holgate next centre back to come through hopefully.

@catcherintherye

would be best placed to answer this thread.

....or people could go through the youth thread and read his posts to save him/her the work haha

maybe martinez has gone OTT, maybe the confidence he breeds will produce it. It does seem promising imo, but they're all still young. you can have all the talent in the world, going and performing in stadiums of 40, 50 and 60+ thousand requires more than just ability though.

time will tell.

Sorry for the delay, work is very busy presently!

To answer the OP it could mean the players he currently has in the first team, or the crop developing below it. I have heard Martinez refer to McCarthy, Barkley, Stones, Lukaku, Deulofeu, Garbutt, Browning, McCaleny as a youthful generation who are ready (in the main) to play first team football.

Alternatively he could be referring to our under 19's down. So Ledson, Kenny, Dowell, Walsh, Evans.

We have won the youth league twice in the last 5 or 4 years. In 2011 (I think) that youth team has produced Dier & Barkley who are now first team regulars. We also had McCaleny, Garbutt and Browning who all stand a chance of playing premier league football. So not a meagre return.

In 2014-15 we who the league and last season came runners up (losing our final game which stopped us retaining it). The nucleus of this side of much stronger than the 2011 squad when they were equivalent ages. People around the football profession were talking about the number of good players we had when they were 14-15 year olds. Even when we won the league in 2011 (I think) and in the aftermath where you expect people to talk about prospects from that team as would normally be the case, most of the chat would be about this youth age group we had who were 4 or 5 years younger.

If we use Browning (or Garbutt) as a barometer we probably have as many as 10 players who are more advanced in their development for the equivalent age. Still a long way to go but a very good starting point.

I suspect (and hope) he is talking about the golden generation who are below the first team, as I can only hope we make the most of them. Whatever anyone else thinks of Martinez, I admire his willingness to cultivate our young players and add to them with players like Holgate.

No one mentioned David Henen in this, does he stand a chance? We must rate him some what to sign him after taking 12 months to take a look at him?
