Our golden generation XI right there, cant wait.

Rip it up and start again....

Alright, Edwyn.

Seriously though the only way that these academy lads will make the step up is if they are truly in Martinez's considerations for first team action within the next couple of years. Otherwise they tend to move on - for there own sake, when opportunities are slim. So the real question should first be whether they will get a look in - which our current manager seems very good at accommodating for, generally.

I can imagine our defense being pretty home-grown in the next few years. Further forward - Barkley, obviously... perhaps McAleny will still be in the picture... would like Dowell to get a chance, but doesn't seem an area that Martinez will be able to afford much time to an 'unproven' prosepect (and perhaps advisedly so)... Henen ripping back fours a new 'un, nationwide.

Following Roberto's mention of Holgate becoming part of Everton's Golden Generation, I thought I'd ask who we all think about that, and who the EGG will eventually consist of?

Off the top of my head, I'm thinking of Stanek, Browning, Coleman, Stones, Holgate, Henen, McAleny, Ledston etc.

Hopefully Johnboy will see past Chelsea's billions and want to be part of it.

Thoughts?
Coleman? He's 27 in October lad.

It's not about over-hyping and thinking all of these will fulfil their potential, it's more that there's a huge amount of players with a lot of quality and it's really not unreasonable on the law of averages to think that at least the backbone of a top side could be made out of that over the next 5 - 10 years. Don't mean it's gonna happen but it's not unreasonable.

the imbecile will still have barry in the team at 48, doesn't matter how much you invest in youth, until a manager has the balls to use it we won't benefit, took him an age to play stones last season, while those two club footed oafs were dicking around at center back
