I love the idea and without doubt a great night for all involved. But....my gripe is that the season ain't over. I had the hump on Saturday about the players already thinking they were on their holidays. The timing of the Dixies does nothing to alter that view especially after watching Tommye's clip and hearing Chapman talk about best individual display of the season.
Well, there's still more games to grab that accolade...or not. And we question the effort and application on the pitch when the Club is holding such an event as this before the seasons over. I want to see a motivated, at times snarling, entertaining and if not that, at least a winning Everton team. I got none of that recently at Swansea, West Ham and I try and understand why. Would we have still done this had we had a squeak of fourth? Probably.
For the players, the kids who saw the players arrive, for the City and the venue, top marks. Just the timing for me. Apologies if my frustration dampens enthusiasm for those more impressed with event.
