Isn't it a fact that Billy Dean hated the nickname 'Dixie'? He hated the racial connotations behind it and wouldn't answer to the name. I'm surprised that Everton have called these awards the Dixies.

..apparently but that's a name synonymous with the history of the game and the history of our football club. Fortunately the name is no longer connected with racism in much the same way as many streets in Liverpool are named after leaders of the slave trade. You don't want to change history.

I think rom has had his best season and has improved parts of his game a lot. Fair play with his goals record but for me he wasn't player of the year. Was this a fans Vote? How did voting work?

It's a good analogy...and people DO want to change that history, and rightly so.
