..I think the intention is to have a recognisable name for a club award. I dare say sponsors can be sought for the evening but I think it's a good idea to have our own 'Oscars'.

Isn't it a fact that Billy Dean hated the nickname 'Dixie'? He hated the racial connotations behind it and wouldn't answer to the name. I'm surprised that Everton have called these awards the Dixies.

Given that WR Dean didn't completely like that nickname, then I think it should be called something else.

It's unreal. Basically "Dixie" years ago was like saying "darky".
