She, along with Otis Redding and the rest of the Stax/Atlantic crew were part of my mid to late teens life.
She'll always have my Respect and I will always Think about her.

Sounds like Aretha Franklin will be gone very shortly. What a voice.

I was thinking about creating a thread for her but that's a bit OTT, so decided to preempt death...

..didn’t know she was so gravely ill, what a voice. Just reading she had her first child at the age of 12 and a 2nd by the time she was 14. Clearly had addiction and health problems for some time but will leave a great musical legacy.

Randy Rampage of the punk band DOA has died aged 58, also played in a metal band called Annihilator, not so sure about them but DOA were great band, late 70s Canadian punk

Beautiful, powerful voice, instantly recognisable, she had one hell of a career, you could safely call someone who is known as 'The Queen of Soul' a legend.

RIP Aretha Franklin we shall never hear her likes again.
