Ireland has lost a ‘true talent and advocate for traditional music’ – warm tributes for legendary musician Paddy Moloney (83)

President Michael D Higgins has described legendary musician Paddy Moloney who has died at the age of 83 as being “at the forefront of the renaissance of interest in Irish music”.

Never heard of him until this morning when I read about his passing on the BBC, seemed an incredibly influential person in the music industry and a thoroughly sound fella

Very sad news. A warrior and a true gentleman. I was very fortunate to meet General Powell. He was a close family friend of a good university friend of mine. General Powell was working at West Point while my friend’s father was the men’s swimming coach.
