RIP. One of the finest goal scorers of all time. A joyful, instinctive player and a nice man.☹️

…..those of us who had the pleasure of watching him play were very fortunate. Successfully fought his demons off the pitch and was a natural for TV, but we will remember him most for those dazzling runs and the deft finishes inside the post.

Respect for a truly top player.

The greatest, ice-cool, finisher I have ever seen. Nothing I have seen since has surpassed his clinical finishing...

….the stats are remarkable;

382 goals in 579 club games
13 goals in 12 England U23 games
44 goals in 57 England games.

A bit like Fred Pickering being left out the ‘66 FA Cup Final, Greaves lost his place through injury to Geoff Hurst and couldn’t reclaim it for the World Cup final. Pictures of him at the end wearing his suit in conversation with Alan Ball.

Sad news. Was a star when I started watching football always a thorn in our side in mid sixties. Then of course with Ian St John the double act that today's pundits should go down on bended knees to thank for paving the way for their lucrative post playing careers. Saturday afternoon in The Crocodile watching it en route to the game.
RIP
